SAS troops last night staged a dramatic evacuation of 150 civilian workers from the Libyan desert.

The Special Forces soldiers landed in two C130 Hercules military transport aircraft on a landing strip near remote oilfields south of the eastern port of Benghazi.

The SAS men – known as ‘blades’ because of their role at the sharp end of the mission – had flown from Malta’s Valletta airport, where, in meticulous detail, they planned the rescue of the stranded workers, many of them British.

I was just correcting your one statement, letting you know that they weren’t being protected by the crew of the ferry, but armed Americans. I don’t know whether they were soldiers, or what, I didn’t hear.

the Chinese and others send in warships for their people..with troops and weapons.

I read the Chinese sent in buses and chartered boats like the Americans did. Where did you hear they sent in warships, troops and weapons?

Chinese nationals leave Libya by air, sea and road

Yeah, guess so Lt. You probably have better knowledge than me, being by your handle I assume you are navy. I did a little research and it appears there are currently 11 active carriers of which two are being refitted. Two are currently in the Gulf, as you stated defending the Oil Sheiks. Sooo, by my math, there are still seven cruising around somewhere - not in the Med it seems...

I wonder if any were Americans. Our diplomat said that she knew of at least 90 Americans who wanted to leave Fri. on that ferry and couldn’t.
