County prosecutors from across the metro said Friday they are overhauling their policies to ensure that juvenile prostitutes are treated as crime victims instead of criminals, even as some regions of the state see an uptick in teen prostitution cases.
"We need to do the right thing as it relates to children who are victims of prostitution," said Ramsey County Attorney John Choi, who was joined at a news conference by prosecutors, police chiefs and victim advocates from across the Twin Cities. "I believe we should be doing everything we can to get them out of the system, and never come back again."
The revised policies and procedures give prosecutors new clarity and unity in direction, Choi said, because state law is contradictory in defining children involved in prostitution both as delinquents and victims of sex trafficking.

The average age now for becoming a prostitute is 13. Fortunately there is a group to help women and girls leave the life of prostitution "Break Free". Prostitution is not a victimless crime. Sure, anyone who voluntarily (many are not voluntary) becomes a prostitute has made a choice, but it is very difficult to then make good choices, and organizations that help prostitutes change their lives deserves support.

Thank god they’re changing it, but I for one personally think that we REALLY need to start figuring out as a society how this is happening and how on EARTH in a country like the US.

So Libertarians want prostitution legalized. Proponents sometimes bring out the "when it's regulated it's safer" etc - but I'm sure Libertarians don't want government oversight and control! They want less government oversight and control (so do I) but with vice, some people want to have their cake and eat it too. Or rather, they'll toss up any argument to support vice, whether said arguments cross each other out, make no sense, or lead to hell on earth.
Here's another snip of info:

Sad to say, many decades ago I shed my "outdated" notions of what the United States used to be. Not that I am uninterested in bringing it back (mostly, there were some things that definitely could be improved...).
Very few enter voluntarily, and over 70% of prostitutes were sexually abused as children.
2 in 5 of all sexually abused children go on to have some experience in the sex industry - be it stripping or porn acting or phone sex or prostitution. The average number of clients is 11, with some prostitutes just doing it once or twice, and others working for life with clients in the thousands.
How? No restraint on pornography, obscenity or other sexually explicit “entertainment”, for one, and promoting and romanticizing promiscuity, adultery, and every other kind of illicit sex imaginable as well. Pushing “sex positive” sex ed in schools, E-Z divorce so families are broken, huge increase in illegitimacy, more and more sexual perversion normalized so what’s the big deal about prostitution? If fisting and every other revolting homosexual perversion is fine, prostitution’s nothing.
God isn’t allowed in school, but teaching fisting and masturbation and “gay” counselors are fine. Teachers having sex with students is much more common than any priest sex abuse of minors.
No mystery.
I still don’t get how on earth God hasn’t wiped the floor with this country. I just wonder if some of this is so girls can get the designer clothes they so hanker after. Some time ago there was a thread on here that described how girls were selling themselves to get money to pay for designer labels.
Unfortunately this sort of thing is nothing new, and is far from being restricted to the US or the West.

I’m more than sure of that. In the East it’s disgustingly normal even.
Some of us were having an argument the other day or two with libertarians (one of whom got zotted) who claimed that prostitution should be legalized. Scum like that refuse to see the facts, such as your comment.
All for legalization until it’s a relative of theirs getting mixed up into it.
Prosecuting, convicting and imposing sentences on the buyers of the services is the only way to put a dent in the prostitution industry.
Prosecuting the pimps and prostitutes actually drives the market price of the “services” higher and thus entices more pimps and prostitutes to set up shop.
Same is true for drugs.
But no on wants to excessively prosecute “johns” and drug users.
So both industries continue to grow.
Don't be in such a hurry. You won't like it it when it happens. Individuals have souls, and are judged in the world to come. Nations do not have souls, and so are judged in this world. That's what the Old Testament is all about.
God has His own timetable and I wouldn't be pushing it if I were you.
No one wants to prosecute the johns because so many of them are elites.
As far as drugs go, I have my own ideas about how to stop the drug trade. But no one likes my ideas.
dopertarians also generally support abortion and that stance is intimately connected with their advocacy of prostitution.
Every one of them will twist and embellish and prevaricate however needed to defend all aspects of their hedonism.
I’m not saying he should do it now, but that He hasn’t done it sooner is mystifying to me. I won’t like it, but I for one plan on getting myself through it.
The official Libertarian Party platform is no holds barred porn, prostitution, dope and every bit of the “gay” agenda.
They’re just the ultra kook anarchy fringe of the Left.
