The attorney for ESPN senior writer Howard Bryant who was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife outside a pizza shop in front of their 6-year-old son said the sports scribe was busted because he is black.
State police said Bryant, 42, put up a fight and struck a trooper with his elbow when they tried to arrest him after witnesses said he roughed up his wife outside a pizza shop shortly after noon Saturday in the small western Massachusetts town of Buckland.

Does he do commentating on football like with Bradshaw or?
ESPN has quite the cast of characters.
Harold McRae sexually harassing co-workers, Peter Kornheiser making sexist comments about a co-worker, and now Bryant assaulting his estranged wife.
Professional victim ping. (I’d start such a ping list, but it’d be HUGE... I don’t have the desire)
In front of their child,
Well isn’t that special.
Nice example ya p.o.s.
Wife should take a ball bat to his ass.
He shouldn’t have been racing.
Get the names right. It was Harold Reynolds (now at MLB Network) and Tony Kornheiser. But that's just the surface. What about Gary Miller urinating in public, Steve Phillips and his stalker mistress and Jay Mariotti's assault?
Miss this line in the story?
Bryants wife is Caucasian
Oh, so it’s a hate crime. Yes, that is weird that the media didn’t pick up on the hate crime angle. So weird.
Its socially correct for a black man or former black athlete to abuse a white woman. OJ did it and got the sympathy of the majority of blacks throughout the US.
Somebody forgot Sean Salisbury and his phone pics.
Next he will claim he a moslem! That should be his freedom ticket. After all, his honor was at stake!
Yeah well, just like that guy who whacked off his wife’s head in an honor killing. The liberal media said there was no Muslim connection. So if he does claim he’s a Muzzie then ??
His wife Veronique Bryant added in a statement: "This is all so unfair. There was no investigation. The police made assumptions about my husband that weren't true. I was never abused or in fear of Howard on that day or any other day. I wasn't running from him or trying to get away from him. The police weren't listening to me and they attacked him with violence with our 6-year-old watching."
And the person who was suspended for comments about Jesus. This FR thread mentions her name and tirade...
Looks like he needs a foreskin...
