A couple of years ago the entire school system in my rural county went into lock-down because a .22 round was found on the HS property.....in the grass. Five elementary schools, the middle school and the high school were locked-down. Sheriff’s Dept, PD from nearby city (pop 7K), State police, SWAT, EMT and HazMat were called to the scene. This was in a RURAL area of WV about a day or two into squirrel season.

Several years ago I flew to Australia wearing a jacket that had a .22 live round in one of the pockets. When I got to my hosts house I discovered it. I pulled it out and placed it on their kitchen counter and said “Lookie here what I found in my pocket” - they stared at it in unbelief, like it was something that came from outer space. Funny.

I have a hard time reconciling this story with the fact that Britain was fire-bombed by the Germans during World War II.
