I agree with you. Lazy deadbeats possesing an entitlement mentality that they are somehow owed something freak out and lose their minds when confronted with the reality that actions (not making your car payment) have consequences (repo). They frequently act irrationally. I can easily see this woman throwing herself in front of the car thinking it will stop the tow truck driver from hauling it away. I can also see, in her lack of composure, failing to educate the tow truck driver on what she was doing.

I’ve always said that stupidity should be painful. In this case, it was likely fatal.

That show drives me nuts. That muscled up man is an ass. People should pay their bills, but he often doesn't tell them what's going on, just takes the car and starts threatening them.

Saint Rachel Corrie of pancake bless this woman, for she is truly stupid and deserving of death.

>>repo on a 2002 buick....we are slowly becming a third world country<<

Yeah, I noticed that too. But to be fair, if you drive and fly around this country, you will notice many parts that have, really, always been third world. It is one reason I think the federal tax code is so unfair. The amount of money it takes to barely make it as a family in Seattle, for example, makes you a RICH man in central Kentucky. That statement gets to the kernel of one of the facets of my desire to move there. But it is a small facet.

Are you saying the hero that bulldozed Rachel Corry is a bad guy?

Here's a similar story, except the tow truck driver was dragged to death instead.

I saw the mile-long blood smear on the road on my way to work the next morning.

Is the operator of a train guilty of manslaughter when someone jumps in front of it?

You've never driven a train have you? The answer is no, but every train driver would gladly not have that experience, which is not uncommon to have in a career.

This is different. The driver of a motor vehicle -- here a tow truck -- is assumed at fault in such an accident, unless extenuating circumstances can be proven. See for example a recent case where no charges were filed: http://www.morningjournal.com/articles/2010/08/20/news/mj3182725.txt

People have far more control of motor vehicles, and it may be that the driver was trying to get away fast, and was careless or distracted. In either case he would likely be culpable.

The show's a joke. I don't think any part of it is real.

That show is scripted. The people whose cars are being repo’d are actors.

A tow truck driver was driving away with a car a few decades back in Houston and the owner fired a shot. It went through the window and the truck driver went down the road a few miles then ran into a ditch. He was pronounced dead on the scene from a gunshot wound. The owner was not charged because the tow truck driver did not explain that he was repossessing the car. The owner felt his property was in danger and, in Texas, was cleared of using deadly force.

It was the tow truck driver’s responsibility to be sure everyone was clear before he attempted to tow the car off.

I don’t like the woman trying to keep her car after not making payments for it, but that is not a capital crime.

If the guy can state, “I looked and I didn’t see her”, and she was in fact in his blind spot, he would probably be okay.

I presume the writer didn’t accurately depict the demeanor of the husband.

“Soon it will be illegal to repo a car in Commiefornia. Paying your bills is optional.”

It’s already optional for the government. They just issue an IOU. Just need to make it work the other way.

You’ve never drven a tow truck have you? It’s really hard to see just exactly what’s behind the crane.

Your screen name is an outright lie.

You haven't got responsibility as second, third, or even three hundred and forty fifth on your list.

No matter what the person who's vehicle is being towed does, the employee towing the repo has a responsibility to make sure the vehicle is clear before he takes off.

Unlike in your disgusting fantasy world, there is responsibility on BOTH sides.
