Al Jazeera English may be coming to American television screens. The Qatar-based network is currently in talks with cable giants Comcast and Time Warner, creating a groundswell of enthusiasm among American news junkies and a collective groan from right-leaning conservative activists.

I’m pretty sure we already have it in Central Florida on Comcast.
Oh really? I'm somewhat of a news junkie. I am not enthusiastic.
jimbo,
I’m as right wing as it comes BUT
check out Al Jazeera a few times for two reasons.
They do NOT present news the way abc nbc c bs do, and that CAN be a good thing.
Also it is good to see your enemy and what it is.
Guarantee you they are watching your news presentation.
Why would the right leaning conservatives groan? We have been told by the left how “peaceful” Islam is. Now they won’t be able to hide the “peacefulness”.
This will be a huge wake up call for the middle of the road ambivalent center left democrat and squishy rino. If this is uncensored Al Jazeera, Americans will be appalled.
.
I'm think’n, yeah, they will.
Availability of repugnant concept and thought may offend personal sensibility's, but such also permits the ability of those interested in specifics to inform ones self as to where others perception of them lie.
It is good to force read the perspective of ones opponent.
The only mechanism for this is availability of free flowing information.
If MTV didn’t get them to leave, Al Jazeera ain’t gunna’ do it.
We’re still waiting for ala carte cable. Been 25 years and still waiting.
Netflix is a good substitute.
Actually I can’t help but smile at your thought process here.
This is a nation that was exposed to quite a bit of information, and the majority of it’s voting citizens still concluded Barack Obama would make a great president.
So now you’re betting that they’ll see anti-Christian pro Islam coverage and conclude that the Western model is better than the Islamic model.
Can’t say you don’t express quite a bit of faith here. Can’t say as it’s reasoned either.
I think their news as as good and in many cases better than the alphabet media we have now.
I would never watch it, but here’s why I’m against it. It will be in a “package” with other channels. If you want your favorite channels, you have to buy a “package” which has the beheadings, stonings, yelling “death to America” channel.
So you will be subsidizing the “death to infidels” channel. Nice redistribution of the wealth, eh?
I hope I’m wrong, but I doubt it.
Don’t have cable.
Any cable news network that does not go wall to wall with Natalee Holloway for two years would be good.
I saw Al Jazeera on a local comcast educational access channel not too long ago.
You must be talking about the Human Lost Network (HLN)
I smile back at you, understanding how information can be manipulated on mass scale, with disasterous result.
Retarding population through deprivation of information is today no longer possible. People crapp a collective pantload when the truth later comes out on a frikin twitt... Ask the Queefer how that open cell phone thing is working out for him today.
If you can show me how to put the toothpaste back into the tube, then I will relent my position, which I admit up front, may be askew of a reality.
Compared to CNN and MSNBC, Al Jazeera would be a breath of fresh air. All the lies, bias and propaganda we’re used to but without the pretense and ostentatious b.s.
Actually, from my experience watching some of their live feed from Lybia on the internet, you are correct.
They should also talk to DirecTV, who is pretty much on their side anyway: My Parental Controls setup forces me to enter the unlock code for FNC, but not CNN or MSNBC. Gee, I wonder why?
