While Cuba's Fidel Castro and Venezuela's Hugo Chavez have not expressed support for Qaddafi, per se, Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega has.
Ortega reaffirmed his position last week, saying he "firmly maintained" his support for Qaddafi, whom he said has been the victim of "a ferocious media attack." The former guerrilla leader-turned-president called the situation in Libya "tough and difficult," adding that he hoped for peace.
The Jerusalem Post reports that Qaddafi's sons have urged him to seek asylum with Ortega.According to this bit from
Venezuelan Ambassador to the United Nations, Jorge Valero has confirmed Venezuela's rejection of the UN Human Rights Council decision to expel Libya.
Valero stated that no country should be excluded and condemned without first hearing the results of a full investigation into allegations. In other words, there has to be a visit to that country by an independent international committee appointed by the HR Council.The articles seems to regret that "To date there has been no response to President Chavez' call to establish a group of friends of Libya."
