Sebelius Cracks! Admits the Obamacare Books Were Cooked (VIDEO)

Posted on 03/04/2011 3:31:40 PM PST by JesseWatters

The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee invited Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to swing by and have a little chin wag about the budgetary implications of ObamaCare. Representative John Shimkus (R-IL) noticed that the rather large sum of $500 billion was dedicated to both sustaining Medicare and funding ObamaCare. When he asked Sebelius which destiny awaited those five hundred billion clams, she replied, "Both."

True.

Few on FR want to remember that the Medicare prescription drug bill cost was sold by the GW Bush Admin at around $350 Billion and almost immediately after it passed it jumped to $580 Billion, and $750 Billion a few months later.

Memory can be very selective.

Bush was the lesser of two evils, but certainly not an optimal choice to stand up to government growth. I understand, on the other hand, how hard it is to not want to help seniors pay for expensive drugs. Yes, I know they are expensive in part because of government, but that doesn’t change the fact that they indeed are expensive. This is the problem with all ‘meddling’ of government. The government often creates problems that hurt people. Then they try to fix that by hurting other people.

Government down to your local city is virtually all corrupt. Like I've said for months - we are the most corrupt of a democracy type nation. Others have some at the top, others have lower areas of it but we have it thru & thru. This also hits our corporations - the fraud at AMD, the whole pharmaceutical industry & their fake drug testing. No nation survives this & none when they repute God.

I have observed politics carefully for over 30 years now and am convinced more convinced than ever before that the main qualification for the majority filthy RAT nominees to positions of power like Sebelius who are way under qualified is because they are dirty as hell and can be black mailed into towing what ever line is need to be towed. No different than the mob or some gang making some new member commit a crime so they can be vulnerable if they stay in line.

Yep, we are being robbed and scammed daily, if we the people cannot pass legislation which prevents the federal government from raising money in any way, and budgets it at the states whim, and requires the states to be balanced and borrow no money ever, pay for future needs with cash, we are toast..

Government is organized crime. It's a protection racket, an extortion racket, a ponzi scheme, a slush fund, it's just an operation for looting productive citizens.

This government is all those things. No doubt about it.

Constitutional republican self-government as envisioned by our Founders was not any of those things, though. Their intent has been perverted.

Rotten to the core. Both parties.

That is for sure.

Very limited government can be clean. That is what the founders gave us. There wasn't a lot of money in government, and there wasn't much power either. Therefore, the criminal class found better things to do, and the people who did decide to go into government tended to be actual public servants.

But as government got bigger and bigger, the temptations grew. Now, the money and power is too much and it seems that almost all who go into government are quickly corrupted.

We would need to cut the federal budget 50% (at least) to even begin putting this genie back in the bottle.

You know, we still have to cut AT LEAST $500bil from Medicare over the next 5 years AND another $1tril out of Social Security.

Between those two programs, discretionary spending and Medicaid we need $7.5 trillion to break even.

To break even.

It's NOT going to happen folks...we won't even come close. There is no political will for this because any rational human being/politician who advocates for it cannot, will not be elected or re-elected.

As for those $14 trillion in bonds outstanding right now?

Suckers. Each and every one of those who hold them are suckers. The US Taxpayer is never, ever going to pay that debt.

If you believe what I said above...what have you done to prepare yourself and your family for the natural outcome of those events?

Yes it is.

Didn’t like that one either, but if he hadn’t through out the bribe to the old farts, we would have had President Gore.

Think about it - where was that election decided?

The problem with running against Democrats is that there is literally no limit to what they can promise with taxpayer’s dollars and there are plenty of greedy people willing to vote for “free stuff.”

Really?

Four years into full operation, President George W. Bush’s Medicare prescription drug program is coming in well below its projected cost, giving hope to backers of the new health insurance law that it, too, could beat budget expectations.

The numbers are stark and conclusive: In 2009, the government spent $60.8 billion on the drug benefit, or far less than the annual $111.2 billion cost projected just five years ago, after the program was enacted.

Program costs are typically measured in 10 year increments and the previous post got it right.

$600bil - $1,000bil cost.

Article says we're spending 60 billion a year.

Article also says that's less than the 111 billion a year projected to be the cost at the time of its enactment.

Is the article incorrect?
