Statement from WMAL regarding Fred Grandy - March 5, 2010 (Dhimmi Station Issues Weasel Words Again)

Statement from WMAL regarding Fred Grandy - March 5, 2010

WMAL did not terminate Fred Grandy's employment, and never had any intention to do so. Fred informed us on March 2 of his intention to resign from the station. To be clear, at no time has WMAL told Fred that he was not allowed to discuss his views on Islam over the air. In fact, he has done so on numerous occasions. Further, WMAL has not been contacted by any organization seeking to restrict his broadcasts.

Bryan Nehman continues to anchor our morning program and in the interim will be joined by several notable guest hosts and regular contributors. WMAL remains committed to its goal of providing a forum for discussing a broad spectrum of issues while delivering compelling programming including Chris Plante, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin.

I wish Fred success in his future endeavors.

Jeff Boden

President and General Manager

As a poster has observed on WMAL’s FB page, “Gee......let’s ask the question this way: Was WMAL contacted by any organization seeking to restrict a Guest of the Grandy Show, such as Mrs. Fred?”

Both sides could be telling the truth. It’s possible that WMAL wasn’t explicitly contacted by CAIR and told to dump Mrs. Fred; WMAL station management was probably terrified enough by the Michael Graham situation that they didn’t need a contact from CAIR to be scared. Once burned, etc. So when Mrs. Fred began telling the ugly truth about radical Islam, they decided to get her off the air before CAIR had a chance to complain. Fred hears his wife is going to be dumped and tells the management, “You can’t take her off the air; not only is she my wife, but I’m supposed to have control of the guest roster on my own show. If I don’t have that control anymore, if you’re going to insult my wife, I want out.”

It’s a great shame. I agreed with everything Catherine Mann said, and it certainly needs to be said, but her presentation was strident and uncomfortable to listen to. If sponsors were worried or other listeners found likewise that this was hard to listen to at 7 a.m., a nervous management might want her to dial it back a little. Of course, honor would not allow either Fred or Mrs. Grandy to do that.

I hope there is a silver lining to this: I hope both Grandys now expand their message and deliver it to a larger forum than the Washington DC radio market.

I picked up MAL during the couple or three years I was consulting down there, and now listen on the internet.

Bryan’s fine, Grandy OK, but I thought Mrs. Fred was outstanding.

All isn’t lost though, remember the Chris Plante episode!

My understanding was that it was CAIR that lodged a complaint. Fred was told to tone it down, and he refused.

Maybe he was “encouraged” to resign? I missed the interview with Sean and Frank on WCBM yesterday.

What makes them “weasel words”? It sounds like they are making direct statements, that are easy to verify as truthful or not.

They may be lying, but they aren’t being “weasely”.

Meanwhile, has Fred Grandy said anything different? I missed his interview. And the DCRTV articles tend to support WMAL’s statement that Fred wanted to leave.

I don’t know why we are so willing to give CAIR credit for having power unless we have evidence that they did.

LET'S ALL EMAIL WMAL AND ASK THEM HOW MANY LISTENERS THEY EXPECT TO PICK UP FROM CAIR, SINCE THEY DEEM IT NECESSARY TO STIFLE FREE SPEECH

Islam is a disease that should be wiped off the face of the earth, starting in America. One of the chief reasons we need to get Obama impeached and tried for treason NOW is that he most likely is doing all he can to covertly promote the spread of this sedition in America.

Try WCBM 680 in Baltimore, listen the Sean and Fran from 6-8, then Tom Marr

I left WMAL when they ditched “Andy and Grandy” (Andy Parks) and kept Grandy. Andy was who made Grandy.

Hmmm! Heartily agree...

But I couldn't have reponded with your magnificent use of restraint and understatement in any description of Islam that I might post...

In addition, with regards to the scumbag Kenyan, I would have to add a reference to "old sparky" as the final step in the Marxist cleansing...

No, he’s just a sub as far as I’ve heard, and they’ll be having guest hosts coming in and out until they sort everything out.

From DCRTV.com: “At 2:45 PM on Monday (3/7), Megyn Kelly on Fox News hosted a debate on Fred Grandy’s resignation from WMAL.”

I gotta get the video of this debate!

Any details? Who debated what or if there was a consensus? Megyn has a national show I wonder why she would be interested in this local matter. Chris Plante is almost a regular on her show though so that may be the connection...
