Maybe they should be called scope dopes!
My brother-in-law (Now deceased) got scope bite years ago. Some Chinese or North Korean was popping rounds at them while at the Chosen Resevoir, so he borrowed another soldier’s scoped rifle, who wasn’t using it, and popped a cap on target. All he saw was stars, and he never got too close to the scope again.
I don’t know if he hit his target or not, but he made up for it later.
