Richard Miniter: Use the Predator to put an end to Gadhafi's slaughter now
Colorado Springs Gazette ^ | Saturday, March 05, 2011 | Richard Miniter

Posted on 03/05/2011 4:47:33 PM PST by SunkenCiv

Slaughtering his own people and mocking the world's pleas, for peace, Libya's Moammar Gadhafi can only be stopped by force. Since President Barack Obama seems comfortable killing terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan with Predator drone strikes, why not in Libya?

So far, establishing a no-fly zone is the only air power option on the table... The Turkish prime minister has said he would oppose such a move.

A no-fly zone also creates political problems for Obama. He came to power promising to end two wars, not to start a new one. "Let's just call a spade a spade," Defense Secretary Robert Gates said. "A no-fly zone begins with an attack on Libya."

...Collateral damage to civilians is a real risk as is friendly fire. On April 14, 1994, over Iraq, two U.S. helicopters were mistakenly shot down, killing 26 coalition personnel...

Doing nothing beyond sanctions and speeches is also not an option. Libya is quickly becoming a humanitarian disaster... Libya's collapse could also destabilize our European allies. European Union officials privately estimate that the EU will see 250,000 refugees from Libya in the coming months.

For those concerned about the legality of striking Gadhafi and his inner circle, remember President Reagan's 1986 air strikes on the Libyan dictator. Yes, they missed, but no one contends they were illegal.

Laws are for Republican Presidents.

And anyway, once Gaddafi’s dead, he’s no longer head of state, problem solved. ;’)

Richard go buy a good sniper rifle and take off, have fun, just leave the united states out of it. This is his neighbors problem.

“Oh yeah, we just had an Albanian kill two of our airmen.”

Wrong. He was born in Germany and lived all his life in Germany. His ancestry was Kosovar Albanian, but he was a German national.

Muslims are slaughtering muslims.

We should stop them why again?

Because we're paying the UN several billion dollars every year that could be extracted from a domesticated Muslim population instead?

Because Barry needs to make sure there are enough Muslim Brotherhood members left alive after Saudi is pacified to elect him Caliph?

Because the regime needs to make sure there is a sufficiently rabid population of fellow Islamo-Nazis available for import (through Mexico or a "humanitarian" executive order right past the TSA pre-union) to counter the inevitable uprising of free citizens that the American Caliphate is attempting to foment?

I don't know. Lots of possible reasons.

“Wrong. He was born in Germany and lived all his life in Germany. His ancestry was Kosovar Albanian, but he was a German national.”

Then you better go out and straighten out the press reports. Are you a muslim?

“Two other U.S. Air Force personnel were wounded in the attack Wednesday by Arid Uka, an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo.”

Those are not my words, those are the words of the press.

US airmen shot in German airport

Germany warns of planned attacks

Prosecutors in Germany say they suspect Islamic militancy as the motive for a gun attack on US airmen at Frankfurt Airport, in which two died.

...

‘Engaged in Holy War’
* The suspect has been named as Arid Uka, 21, who is said to have been born in Germany to parents who moved there from Kosovo about 40 years ago. *

There's my source.

And if I am a Muslim, my pastors, my wife, and my Coast Guard friends would be very surprised. I believe in truth and I believe in accurate information.

Uka got involved in militancy in Germany, not Kosovo.

I stand corrected on where he was born. However, I also believe in what Mark Steyn has to say about this situation. According to Steyn, Kosovo and Albania are not limited to their geographical boundaries.

I apologize for my asking if you were a muslim.

I see what Steyn is saying. However, I don't think this is directly related to Kosovo, but rather to Islamic militancy.

Nobody said we should stop them from killing each other, we should arm the rebels so that they kill each other more!

If you want muslims to kill each other then you should always support the weaker side just to continue the conflict. If Kadhafy defeats the rebels then the killing will end.

I believe that Steyn is making the comparison between what this country did for muslims in Kosovo and what this muslim with links to Kosovo carried out against American airmen.

There is this deadly thinking that if we, as a country, treat muslims nice they in return will repect us. Nothing can be further from the truth.

I think Minter may want to reconsider this laughably inaccurate claim. Virtually all the Left chorused that it was illegal, gushing great gouts of tears over an infant that Gaddafi belatedly adopted so that he could claim to have lost a daughter. It was an absolutely disgusting display of his ability to manipulate the credulous media who were determined to manipulate everyone else.

No, we do not need to assassinate a foreign despot from the skies to augment 0bama's popularity polls. The dog is getting tired of being wagged.
