It’s a crime of passion only to the extent that murdering young girls in cold blood is this guy’s passion.
I guess in a sense it’s a valid argument since it seems VDS has a passion for killing young women.
Whatever jail time he gets for this, he’s facing a much worse fate in the future. I wouldn’t be him for anything.
If someone were to kill this bastard in prison, maybe they will be able to claim the same- 'a crime of passion'?
Another thing, how could any lawyer even think to represent this scum?
Prosecuters are asking only 30 years? That’s not nearly long enough.
I've always believed that he was up to his eyeballs in gambling debts and drugged Natalee and sold her to a sex slave outfit in Venezuela which is why they couldn't find any trace of a body. A beautiful blonde would bring top dollar.
....if he did sell her into the sex slave trade, her buyers eliminated her as soon as CNN posted her photo. I think VDS killed her and his Dad helped dispose of the body.
Some lawyer has to do it or there wouldn’t be a trial. There’s always some lawyer with the heart of a snake ready to answer the call.
I hope the next article i read about this d-bag is in regards to his violent death at the hands of fellow prisoner El Lupe.
After Joran’s attempted escape and the assault of a guard I think it’s safe to say he’s not getting off with 5 years.
When he’s convicted and serving his prison term he’ll be a celebrity for not only murdering a young Peruvian woman but for attacking that guard. He may well not serve out his entire sentence or even close to it.
He deserves representation in a criminal matter. Doesn't mean he's innocent, just that he deserves representation. If you're charged with a crime, you should be entitled to be represented by somone who knows the law. There isn't any way to draw the line ahead of time as to who should be hanged immediately and who not.
Here lies the body of Arkansas Jim.To me this isn't nearly so bad as lawyers representing the scum who make a living suing business for lack of handicap access etc. These guys are nothing but shakedown artists.
We made the mistake,
But the joke's on him.
Ha! His lawyer ought to get three to five just for suggesting that.
“Another thing, how could any lawyer even think to represent this scum?”
Most but all will do anything you can think of for money, They have no morals and no pride...
I agree, "forever" would be better -- but:
"Peru is one of nine countries in the world that does have the death penalty, but only for crimes 'committed in exceptional circumstances'. This means crimes that are committed in times of war or genocide or crimes under military law."
If money doesn’t work, and notoriety doesn’t work, in most systems an attorney will be assigned the task, whether they want it or not.
This attorney is not going to the mattresses for this defendant however. He has already ceded the principal point, that the defendant committed the act.
Van der Sloot is toast, and daddy can’t protect him over there.
He will not survive Peruvian prison.
3 to 5 years??
wow.
