Two months after Camden, NJ, laid off 160 police officers, city prosecutors have released a sobering report showing a dramatic rise in violent crime in the drug-and-crime-ridden city of 80,000 residents.

Aggravated assaults with firearms jumped 259 percent in January and February compared to last year, and violent crime over all is up 19 percent, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office told the Philadelphia Inquirer. Murders and robberies, however, were down for the period.

Camden is a hell hole. Urban slum, almost all of it. And it has been, for as long as I can remember.

Well, I'm sure it's not the Rogue Amish in there (as with ALL major cities that are Democrat-owned).

Time to assemble a well-armed local militia, and take care of the neighborhood. Likewise, keep the Lawyers out of Camden, and the streets would be clear of thugs, too. NO PLEA BARGAINS.

Indeed.

Where is Eric Holder and his “my people” rhetoric?

See the Liberal plan for making taxpayers “pay” for not increasing taxes in action. Cut essential services like police and schools. Wait for crime to go up and blackmail the public into paying more. Government reminds me of a feudal system protection racket more and more every day.

Certainly if a white Tea Party member with a Gadsden bumper sticker were to be picked up for conceal carry without Big Brother approval, he’d be hauled in and serve hard time.

Fifty years of liberalism and the "great society."
And every inner city in America is just like this.
Sickening.

True, but this is Camden. There are no taxpayers. That entire city is full of parasites.

After union-city negotiations broke down in January, the city fired nearly every officer hired after 1998, following the union-dictated seniority layoff policy. So the remaining police force of 200 officers is middle-aged.

Camden Mayor Dana Redd said 100 police officers could have kept their jobs if they took a 20 percent wage cut. The officers instead agreed to a wage freeze and unpaid leave days, which was rejected.

Look for the Union label.

If we were to be very cynical, we could ask all the laid off cops: Where were you on the night of __________ between ________ and _____________ (given that the public service unions are becoming more thugish every day.)

But, I won’t seriously go there.

“True, but this is Camden. There are no taxpayers. That entire city is full of parasites.”

They’ll just rape the county, state, and federal governments instead for their money; problem in NJ now is that the county and state are tapped out, and the Kenyan Pirate isn’t kicking in anything either - fed’s broke, too.

“They love seeing a 40-year-old cop get out of that car instead of a 24-year-old guy who can actually chase them down,”

NJ cops stopped chasing the animals down over a decade ago, when they were told they risked their jobs, their pensions, and jail time if they continued to act as policemen; now, they “de-police” (file traffic accident reports). The NJ State Police went into Camden years ago to deal with parts the city’s police wouldn’t even patrol anymore; after several justified shootings, they were removed (too effective?). The politically correct answer would appear to be Britain’s policy when colonizing: elevate one group of natives above the rest, arm them, and let THEM keep order. No more racial hysterics...

“If you’re not shot or murdered, or if it does not involve a drug gang, it’s not going to be investigated,”

Newark has operated like that for decades; these police layoffs will have NO IMPACT on the quality of life in on these reservations.

The long term solution is to charge neighborhoods for their police protection. Block by block - each taxing area would equal 4 square city blocks - incentives switched - perverse incentives out - healthy ones in....

If you live in a civilized neighborhood, your taxes go down - live in chaos, your taxes go up.

Here's why it would work: inner city neighborhoods have zero incentive to stop crime. Thugs run the game. Those who stand up to them is to stand alone.

Residents being assessed a 'crime tax' based on number of neighborhood police calls changes the game. Responsible people ( plus the ones who don't want to pay extra taxes) join forces and start snitching on crooks. Crime quits being fashionable and edgy.

A women with 3 juvenile delinquents becomes the outcast - rather than the person to be feared. Everyone has something to lose if crime stays high.

Switching the incentives works. Police should not be babysitting adults in bad neighborhoods.
