NPR Cans Ronald Schiller
Slate.com ^ | March 08, 2011 | By David Weigel

That, from the new statement from NPR's Dana Rehm, is the shoe that took all day to drop. The entire statement, which also clarifies that Schiller decided to leave before the sting occurred:

The comments contained in the video released today are contrary to everything we stand for, and we completely disavow the views expressed. NPR is fair and open minded about the people we cover. Our reporting reflects those values every single day – in the civility of our programming, the range of opinions we reflect and the diversity of stories we tell.

The assertion that NPR and public radio stations would be better off without federal funding does not reflect reality. The elimination of federal funding would significantly damage public broadcasting as a whole.
**snip**

David Folkenflik has more, including the key detail that the "administrative leave" is, yes, confirmation that Schiller is gone. Schiller's first day at the Aspen Institute is April 1; I've checked in with the institute just to make sure he's still starting there.

Seriously this person must be deranged to believe this as a fact. This just goes to show you how disconnected from reality NPR and the other liberals are. I have liberal friends and even they complain about the liberal bias at NPR.

Life inside that liberal bubble can get challenging...

Whoa, there! Don’t be so sure ALL NPR listeners are knee-jerk Liberals.

I know plenty of people who listen to NPR’s classical music programs, as most radio stations play only rock or country music. So folks donate money to NPR to fix their classical music fix. When editorial programs come on, they turn the radios off.

“a statement from NPR’s Dana Rehm”
(NPR VP of Communications)
Up till now I always wondered how Diana Rehm, a tragic sufferer of acute, unrelenting, and unlistenable oratory disembodiment incapacity, doubled down with cranial/anal inversion syndrome had her own NPR show.

Here is where he is going...his next job. And he’s on their page. I can’t believe their job offer still stands.

The left used exactly this type of gotcha, with cutaways to hide edits at least as far back as the launch of “60 Minutes”. Only occasionally did the targets of Mike Wallace or Morley Safer garner any sympathy.

Turn about is fair play.

Every employee of NPR and CPB should assume they are on camera at all times.

Please, spare us the hand-wringing, whining and defeatism. This was a MAJOR victory!

...haven’t heard a word about sweet betsy liley and where she fits into this...probably on sabbatical already or fundraising from an undisclosed location...what fools to think we believe these desperate attempts to make them look like an unbiased news organization made us of just folks!

amen. they won’t truthfully admit these things under oath, so this is the only way to do it. and when they complain about the method, point to the 60 minutes stuff. the left is really reeling over this. if this had happened @ FOX News, or to Rush, zer0 would have his boots on our throats pronto. even before you could say rahmn emmanuel

“NPR is fair and open minded about the people we cover”

Unless Muslims make a $5 million dollar contribution - and then we will make sure you get your money’s worth and we will make NPR “National Palestine Radio”, just for you!

This is the Aspen Institutes mission statement:
The Aspen Institute mission is twofold: to foster values-based leadership, encouraging individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society, and to provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues.
Apparently, labeling the entire Tea Party as racist is considered neutral and balanced. And if Mr. Schiller did make anti-Semitic remarks, I can't see how that reflects on the ideals and ideas that define a good society. The President and CEO of Aspen Walter Isaacson might want to hear from you.

He is James O’Keefe.
If I had to guess, Mr. O’Keefe will slam NPR with two or three more TV pieces on the same target in a week or so.

Recall the first ACORN hit; just as the ACORN bosses tut-tuted the incident as a “one of a kind,” O’Keefe nailed them with two more.

I can’t wait.

All things considered, the talk of the nation is focused on NPR and their elitist attiudes across the nation.

No, he knows it’s a lie. Like a good Alinskyite he will continue to repeat the lie over and over again until it is accepted as truth.

Isn’t David Koch, the money behind the “racist” tea party? Maybe Schiller and David Koch will get to meet in the near future. LOL

Schiller’s first day at the Aspen Institute is April 1

O’Keefe’s gotcha stuff has been standard fare for 40 years on “60 minutes”, “20/20” and others over the years. I enjoy seeing them squirm from the same tactic they have been using on everyone else.
