NPR Cans Ronald Schiller
Slate.com ^ | March 08, 2011 | By David Weigel

That, from the new statement from NPR's Dana Rehm, is the shoe that took all day to drop. The entire statement, which also clarifies that Schiller decided to leave before the sting occurred:

The comments contained in the video released today are contrary to everything we stand for, and we completely disavow the views expressed. NPR is fair and open minded about the people we cover. Our reporting reflects those values every single day – in the civility of our programming, the range of opinions we reflect and the diversity of stories we tell.

The assertion that NPR and public radio stations would be better off without federal funding does not reflect reality. The elimination of federal funding would significantly damage public broadcasting as a whole.
**snip**

David Folkenflik has more, including the key detail that the "administrative leave" is, yes, confirmation that Schiller is gone. Schiller's first day at the Aspen Institute is April 1; I've checked in with the institute just to make sure he's still starting there.

Just a small clarification: The tactic is not the same as 60 minutes and 20/20. Specifically, even though O’Keefe did edit, he also published the entire unedited episode, in order to demonstrate that nothing was taken out of context.

IOW, O’Keefe was fair, absolutely the opposite of the vile 60 Minutes and 20/20.

"What do you want to bet that there are more tapes with other people?"

Michael Savage interviewed O'Keefe tonight and O'Keefe said this will be like Acorn with additional tapes to follow :-)

Since NPR is in a compliant move, I demand that they fire all of their liberals and replace them with conservatives.

Its all a set up , a planned play to get the public to believe that NPR supports equal time for conservatism.

And so NPR secures its funding from Congress yet again? SNORT!

Cut NPR off or alternatively , if NPR is funded, then the EIB network must be funded too!

NPR is fair and open minded about the people we cover.

And the sun sets in the east.

All that is usually required to demonstrate NPR's liberal bias is to listen to their broadcast for one minute. NPR's news/story selection and their reporters' spin relentlessly support the liberal agenda. Either it fits the liberal template or it never happened.

NPR's listeners want to live inside a comfortable liberal bubble, and NPR's corporate mission is to say and do whatever it takes to keep that bubble inflated.

O’Keefe for President!!!!

Seriously, he is doing more than most of the so-called conservative Republicans we have elected to Congress.

We canned him. He’ll have to make due making 7 figures somewhere else.

Now give us money. April 15th is right around the corner - so fork it over...

So folks donate money to NPR to fix their classical music fix. When editorial programs come on, they turn the radios off.

Actually, I support an All Classical station owned by WGBH, in Boston. There is no liberal pontification, whatsoever. I love it!

Oh, wow! That’s terrific. I’m envious. We used to have a classical music station out here in Portland, OR, but it went to rock music.
