China promises millions of low-cost homes

BEIJING – China's government will spend nearly $200 billion this year to build 10 million low-cost homes, a Cabinet official said Wednesday, amid efforts to spread the benefits of economic growth to the poor and rein in surging housing prices.

Beijing has unveiled an array of measures including higher wages and subsidies as part of ambitious promises to narrow a politically volatile gulf between rich and poor and transform a nation of farmers and factory workers into a consumer society.

Most live in dwellings the size of a small closet. Many make only $100 a month.

That is what we have to compete against, it’s slave labor.

Too bad we can’t teleport our unoccupied homes over to China...make some money on the deal. We could even send over a few million illegals to help out

“China’s government will spend nearly $200 billion this year to build 10 million low-cost homes...”

They have no need to do that. For less than that China can buy the homes in the US, and then move their excess population in as an exchange for “just one more rollover” of the debt.

More cave dwellings, no heat no bath rooms, but you get a small refregrator and a one eye gas stove and room for your mattress on the floor. And lots of wall hooks for your stuff.

Ok, Wait, I answered my own question last week with this post:

You could just teleport the Chinese who need homes here. It would be a win-win.

Just sell them California for 10 trillion to get rid of most of our national debt. The Chinese can move into all the distressed California homes

Actually, China has more empty houses than we do. They've been building ghost cities hoping to convert their near stone age rural population into city dwellers. What could possibly go wrong?

Have you ever SEEN a high rise apartment building in China? Some of the 50 story concrete pillars actually have elevators and water.

Entitlement programs? List all that’s in there - not just the part Democrats want us to cut ( and take the fall for...) If we’re smart we’ll cut EVERY program that primarily serves Democrat victim groups - and there are millions ...

Aren't you tired of repeating this nonsensical claim?

Labor becomes a slave labor it is involuntary, not according to how much wage the laborer receives. It is strange to be explaining this to a freedom-loving American on a conservative forum.

Unlike under Mao, Chinese take jobs voluntarily. Just like Americans or Germans, they are paid according to their productivity.

We have to compete against them in exactly the same way as against Germans, Brits or Brazilians.

No, you don't have accept similar wages to compete successfully against the Chinese.

How do you know that those homes are subsidized in any way? And, since when interest earned on an investment is a subsidy?

Oh wait, you've answered that question: we simply don't have to think about what we say as long as it is against a party we don't like, right?

You don't think America's interest payments to China has any effect on their economy in general?

The Chinese are making money off American taxpayers in the form of iterest payments on loans, how that money is used by the Chicoms is speculative.

That was the point my friend. ..and I wouldn't care what party is in charge.

Geezz....

Of course they do. But that's not what you said in your previous post. You can ask me in the same vein whether rain make air wet --- yes it does, but that is not what we were discussing either.

The Chinese are making money off American taxpayers in the form of iterest payments on loans,

Firstly, this is false. This is the reason I responded to your post: stop and think for once about what these words really mean. By receiving interest on a loan, the lender receives profit from the loan. A bank does not make money off the borrower; it makes money off its own money that it lent to the borrower.

[ Even more precisely: principal plus interest is the price in future dollars that the borrower pay in exchange for today's dollars he receives in the form of the loan. If you are interested, I'd be glad to expand on that; let me know. ]

Secondly, the idea that lenders make money off borrowers (rather than off their own capital) is due to Marx. According to him, this is the reason for the socialist revolution: workers should stop allowing capitalists to make money off them (workers).

I know this happened without you knowing, but this commie viewpoint got under your skin --- no offense intended, I assure you.
