That was funny. I never saw that before. It's too bad we don't have comedians like that anymore. From Buster Keaton to Don Knotts. Everyone was funny in that movie. Serious actors like Spencer Tracy all the way to Buddy Hackett, who's blue material was even great compared to the stuff today.

David Broder was one on the better liberals who I agreed with from time to time.

RIP

The only Sunday liberal interviewer I can watch is Fareed Zakria. I know where he’s coming from but he lets his guests expound for more than 20 seconds and doesn’t step on their answers. His interview with Wolfowicz where he expounded on the differences in the middle-east countries experiencing turmoil and how they could play out was great, and not once did Fareed sputter out “but your a Bush neo-con!”

I’m shocked that Rush and some FReepers are giving this ardent lib some props.

I certainly never saw anything that merited it.

RIP Mr. Broder. Thank you for your Army service.

He at least seemed at least not to be completely irrational unlike most of his Leftist colleagues at wapo. But, I sure hope that we will not see the orgy of eulogies from the Leftist media this time.

Don Knotts...what an enormous comedic talent. And he always made it look as though he was really just being himself onscreen so that he was just naturally funny, seemingly without any effort.

RIP Mr. Broder.

Didn’t realize he was 81.

That's because the Washington Post uses those ridiculous photos of their opinion writers that are ancient.

Look. Kathleen Parker is 89 and they are STILL using this pic of her from 60 years ago. It's no wonder we don't know how old these people really are.

Didn’t agree with him very much, but I had the chance to meet him at a college journalism conference a few years back.

Loved talking to him....he was a great guy.

Very thoughtful in what he said even if I disagreed. This is very sad.

A polite liberal, not a loon like Chris Matthews.

Yeah, you got it! Just like the 50 year old photo of Helen that AP has been using!

I’ve oft wondered when someone’s going to trot out an example of a moderate Nazi to validate the unfounded premise that every group has its moderates and that moderates are “always” the majority.

So sad.

My father died the same way, albeit at a much younger age.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Broder.

Tim Russert and David Broder were the only two left-leaning news analysts with even a hint of integrity. Russert has been sorely missed and Broder will be as well.

That pretty well sums up my own views on the matter.

It is just about always sad to learn of the sudden passing of another person, as it reminds us of our common mortality. (On this point, I would make an exception for Osama bin Laden or Aymen al-Zawahiri. Or perhaps for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. But not for too many others.)

Even though I frequently disagreed with Broder, on matters of political philosophy, I did find him generally civil. And usually fair.

And that is no small accomplishment, in my opinion...
