GOP imposes $100 fines on Wis.'s AWOL Democrats
By Scott Bauer, Associated Press – 17 mins ago

MADISON, Wis. – Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate voted Wednesday to fine the chamber's AWOL Democrats $100 for each day they miss of the legislative session, and the governor said the GOP remains committed to his plan to strip most public workers of their collective bargaining rights.

Gov. Scott Walker met with GOP senators in a closed-door meeting a day after releasing details about concessions he's offered to Democrats, saying he had the backing of his fellow Republicans.

"They're firm," Walker said after dashing out of the meeting and into an elevator at the Capitol.

"I don't know what else I could possibly do to compel them to come back," Fitzgerald said after the vote to fine the lawmakers.

Erpenbach said threats of arrest and fines are not productive.

"They're talking about parking spaces and copiers when they should be talking about collective bargaining and Medicaid," the Democratic senator said. "They've been talking about resolutions and all this other stuff, and it's just wasting everybody's time."

At least they're talking ... as compared to hiding out in another state.

Sorry, I’ve been listening to the Bozo Scott Boys (Fitzgerald and Walker) all day. These two are so dopey. They think of the fleebaggers as their brothers in government. They know that the Obama forces and big unions are working this issue behind the scenes, yet they still think that the camaraderie of the Senate/Legislature will prevail.

Walker is an embarrassment. He is a little boy playing governor at Badger Boys State.

Fitzgerald mailed the paychecks to all the fleebaggers and Walker just admitted in his current news conference (right now) that he was at a meeting with Mark Miller in Kenosha last Wednesday. Since Kenosha is in Wisconsin, one could presume that he could have had Miller picked up right then and there. Do you really think they will make their brethren pay those fines?

In colonial Virginia an elected member of the House of Burgesses could not refuse to serve. He could be dragged to business by the Sheriff and ordered to pay fines in the thousands of pounds of tobacco and express an apology to other members who did their duty without coercion.

Does anybody think that if the circumstances were reversed the MSM wouldn’t be referring to it as a unanimous vote of the Senate?

$100 per day? What good is that? The unions can come up with $1400 in about thirty seconds.

Serious question, though. Why aren't the senators who are still in session passing some interesting bills, voter ID for example? Is there something in the Wisconsin constitution which forbids something like this?

You know, at MY job, two days of no-show, no-call results in termination. Fire the bastards and have a special election to replace them.
