A father still enraged over his young sons death more than 35 years ago has vowed to kill the boys murderer if he is released several years early from his 40-year sentence, as now scheduled.
Michael Woodmansee, who was a neighbor of the Foreman family, killed Jason Foreman in South Kingstown in 1975 and hid the boys shellacked bones in his house for years.
A Department of Correction lawyer said Woodmansee earned time off for good behavior and it can be revoked only if he misbehaves.

I think the whole neighborhood should join in with this poor man.....I could tell the story of what happened in NW North Dakota in about 1936....when a couple of (white)charged murderers were er, removed from the jail and given local justice for the murder of a family (My at the time 17 yr old Uncle was accidentally present at the lynching - long story.)
Can’t they get someone to “fix” this inside the prison? Like, as in permanently?

Don't announce - just .....
He forgot the third “S”.
.
God forbid the brutal murderer misbehaves!!!!!!!
No amount of good behavior could possibly make up for the degree of bad behavior already done. Why this monster wasn’t put to death by judicial authority is beyond me.
Loose lips sink ships.
The state maybe doing society a favor. Unfortunately the dad is announcing to the world his intentions.
I hope they go easy on this poor Dad when he’s in the joint.
I also hope he doesn’t do it.
His little son must have been something. He’s doing this as a monument to his favorite boy. Please reconsider, John.
Precisely.
In fact, you say just the opposite - - "All is forgiven... Let bygones be bygones... He paid his debt... blah blah blah."
Then you get rid of him, and don't get caught.
jury nullification
Special 2011 Codicil to the Code of Hammurabi:
Any cannibal who eats a man’s son and polishes up the kid’s bones is fair game for aforementioned dad to render aforementioned cannibal into room temperature status.
This creep tried to repeat his crime but the boy escaped and told the police; that’s how he got caught. I don’t understand plea bargaining down from a life sentence simply to keep the family from hearing the gory details.
“Still enraged”? If someone had killed my child 35 years ago or 350 years ago, I’d still be furious. Having said that, the system will punish him worse than the murderer if he goes through with this.
Joran Van Der Sloot has killed multiple women...he is getting 3 to 5 years in Peru for admitting guilt to murder in the first degree. He has already served 1 of those 3 to 5.
There is no justice. Why is it scumbags like this are allowed to live and kids die young and are murdered? I hope this father gets a good shot.
Y'know how there seems to a plague of child molestors nowadays? Yet, in my youth ('40s, '50s rural Oklahoma), you never heard of them.
I have a theory.
I suspect that whenever some local darlin' found herself the target of a molestor, the word was quietly passed among the community's fathers. And that said molestor got "taken for a ride" into the country...and never came back. I've little doubt that the adult men in our town were capable of doing such a deed.
Such effective attrition on the molestor community would've kept the population down.
NW North Dakota and NW Oklahoma aren't that far apart, culturally.
Parents should have the right to kill the person who murdered their child. I can only imagine the hate this father has for the scum who murdered and consumed his young son.
The people of Rhode Island have been badly let down by their prison population, members of which should have taken care of this problem a long time ago. The fact that this guy is still breathing is a disgrace to incarcerated criminals everywhere.
Exactly. Shoot. Shovel. Shut up.
Yep. And knowing it acted as a deterrent for those who might have otherwise considered the crime.

Except for that lutefisk thing...(8^D)
YEP...what YOU said...I’ll bet neighborhoods would be safer everywhere....for many reasons.
One time, as I was checking out with my lunch, there happened to be on the radio a local story about some child molester who was on trial. They were talking about how his lawyer was using some legal manouver to get some evidence declared inadmissable, or something, I don't remember.
Anyway, I was the only one in line, and when she finished ringing me up, she looked me in the eye and she said "back in my country, if he had done that, the men in our village would have taken care of him. He would have... just... disappeared."
She gave a very slight, but unmistakable, little verbal push to the word "men." It was kind of spooky.
hell, I’d go after this shmuck if he killed any of my pets that I’ve adopted and in many cases, nursed back from near death once or twice.
He shouldn’t have broadcast it, he may just be trying to give the murderer fair warning. They probably need to (if they let him go) let him go at the state line and say ‘don’t come back, it’s your funeral’.
No, no, you didn’t read the story carefully. Van Der Sloot hasn’t even had a trial yet. He hasn’t been sentenced. HIS LAWYER is asking that he be given a five-year sentence. I agree there is no justice, but in the Peru case, it remains to be seen.
Yes, we are better off giving up the idea of impassioned justice and the rule of law in favor of blood feuds.
Well, we had brains and eggs...
I have a theory, but it’s altogether different. I simply don’t think there were any molesters back then. Or if there were, it was much easier to do it without getting caught.
There are a number of things that have changed in today’s world, which includes a society that is becoming increasingly desensitized to this sort of behavior. I blame it on a number of factors such as fewer sexual taboos (thanks to the stench of the 1960s) and easier access to pornography because of the Internet (not just child porn, but porn in general).
Perhaps too in the olden days, religious belief was stronger and those who had these urges tried harder to not act on them.
Also, the bastard should not be let out of jail. He should in fact be executed, via some method that will give him time to ponder his unbelievable crime.
This wouldn’t be happening if they had hanged the bastard.
I understand that he was imprisoned in ANOTHER STATE FOR HIS %$^&%( SAFETY!! If he’d been sent to a local prison, they’d probably have found him in the shower with 3’ of sharpened broom handle jammed where the sun don’t shine.
I still don’t understand why this animal is still on the planet but if the murdered boy’s dad does snuff this SOB, do you really think a jury would convict him?

You know, I do not believe in vigilante justice even for cases like child rape. I think they should be tried, convicted, and punished like everyone else. And for these situations, I think castration of molesters is the most reasonable solution.
“Id go after this shmuck if he killed any of my pets that Ive adopted and in many cases, nursed back from near death once or twice.”
I think I would feel the same way in that situation.
“Id go after this shmuck if he killed any of my pets that Ive adopted and in many cases, nursed back from near death once or twice.”
The police used to do that a lot in olden times. They’d drive a suspected felon to the state or county line and say “We’ll let you go here, but don’t ever set foot in our city again or else.”
But he wasn’t sentenced for a capital crime. So, it is what it is.
Urging tribal blood feud justice is something that FReepers should understand is a step backwards away from civilization.
One other thing I might add is that this guy did indeed deserve the death penalty, except that he killed the boy in the ‘70s when there was no capital punishment.
The ban on the death penalty only lasted a couple of years, but it was a big-time mistake.
Thanks for understanding civilization and the rule of law. Tough cases make bad law.
This filthy animal tortured, ATE, and raped, the poor little boy.
One thing I do know: sexual molestation (or worse) was much less likely to be reported to the authorities back in the '40s and '50s.
Which would also tend to make vigilanteism a valid form of retribution.
Trade ya!
Our society is largely incapable of any rational solution on how to deal with molesters because the moment the word is mentioned, people go into a hysterical breakdown and lose any common sense.
If the child is killed, the person should be sentenced to death the same as any other murderer. If not, they ought to be castrated (as I mentioned in this thread).
At the end of the day, vengeance is God’s to seek, not man’s. As proof of that, I consider how Jessica Lunsford’s killer died in prison of an extremely painful cancer. There was no need for him to be shanked by fellow inmates (not that that can happen on death row anyway) because the man upstairs can always be guaranteed to care of business.
There is a perverse incentive to kill if capital punishment is the sentence for crimes like molestation, rape, etc. If rape leads to capital punishment, then the rapist might as well kill his victim and give himself a better chance to avoid detection.
“Urging tribal blood feud justice is something that FReepers should understand is a step backwards away from civilization.”
And what we have today is.... “civilization”?
If that’s true, I’d rather go back to the bad old days of ropes and hangin’ trees. And I’m dead serious about it.
Your opinion may be different and I respect it. But I ain’t changin’ mine.
Rape has been punishable by death at different times, but as I said, I think only actual murder warrants capital punishment. Castration ought to work for the former.
Some will tell you that it’s ineffective and castrated men can still achieve an erection. True, but it can significantly reduce their sex drive by taking away the body’s main source of testosterone.
I think in olden times, people didn’t report it because they didn’t want to believe that such things could happen. It was still very common then to hold to the Victorian view of children as asexual beings, and so it seemed unimaginable that anyone could do anything sexual with them.
Ah, heck. I'm feeling generous.
You can have it all -- lutefisk and the brains and eggs.
