He is cutting the PA budget which desperately needs to be cut and now the teachers unions are crying woe is me.

At this point at least, the poll has turned the corner and is 51% yes. I think Corbett is going about cuts the right way. He has a GOP legislature and a huge Senate majority. He needs to get as much non-controversial stuff done as he can this session and save the lightning rod items for the end so he doesn’t gin up a Wisconsin-type storm in heavily union PA.

Hell yes I agree with his budget. I live in PA and I am being bleed dry by the teachers union. I have been crushed by the economy and since I am a computer programmer, I have to deal with the cheap labor overseas. In my school district the teachers are getting a 3.5% raise each year for the next 3 years PLUS any steps they get. They pay less then $50 a month for health insurance. I say it is time to bring in teachers from India and let the teachers compete for their jobs against them!

I just did a phone survey about the issues of teachers and homeschooling etc. When he asked if students schooled in other places than public schools should they have to abide by the same standards of testing public schools do....I said no...the public schools need to adapt their testing to those of private and home schoolers.

Another thing about education in PA. The Universities never seem to cut expenses. They just raise tuition. How about down sizing some overpaid profs. They make $100K + a year and work way less then 30 hours a week. Corbett has cut Pitt and Penn State enough they are not going to be able to pass the whole load onto the students. I have a degree and in my mind for most degrees, it does not matter who the teacher is or what you learn. It is all about the piece of paper and the money to spend for it.
