That certainly is a lot of purple prose there....
Hi, a question if I may. Why post a 61 year old article without calling attention to the age of the article? Why do it at all? Thanks.
This has got to be one of the weirdest posts I’ve ever seen. This is a 60 year old article! What the heck are you doing?
Purple prose...I love it!
Your invention? If so I salute you.
And the SEIU surely hates you.
Poster already banned. This was odd...
And the guy has been a member since 2000. Kinda wierd.
Not banned. That’s his profile page.
HAHAHA! And I fell for it!
I hope the situation is under control by now.
No he isn’t. Check that again. The region selection doesn’t show on actual banned accounts.
I don’t really mind that the article was posted as I tend to check out the date right away when I click on an article, but I have seen that oftentimes, readers are misled and it leads to a garbled discussion.
The situation with the poster that you described is odd.
All your (rebel)base are belong to us.
Give the guy a break, he probably only has a dial-up internection plus a slow computer........
This person is not banned. He/she/it just set it up to look like that. Another poster has done the same thing thinking they are oh so smart. Part of an ego thing, sort of like the leftists who think they are so much smarter than we unwashed citizens.
Directly commenting on the content of the article - the police certainly treated union thugs differently back then from how they treat them in Madison, WI now.
internection = internet connection
You have no time to survive. Make new signs!
First the banner for the web site says Time in Partnership with CNN (upper left hand corner). That should raise all kinds of red flags about the magazine and anything in it.
Next there is an advertisement on the left side which has "the best financial blogs of 2011". This shows it is a recent issue of the magazine.
So the question should be why is this magazine(?) printing an article from 1950 instead of why did the OP post it in this forum? Is Time so out of touch with reality they think it is still 1950 or are they so destitute of articles approving of unions they have to go back that far to get one?
Go back to his page and click on “Okay”, just for fun.
No he hasn’t.
Actually, I did after someone told me it was his page. As expected, I was PWNED. ;)
Yeah, yeah. I know. ;)
Purple prose is a term of literary criticism used to describe passages, or sometimes entire literary works, written in prose so overly extravagant, ornate, or flowery as to break the flow and draw attention to itself
Purple prose is the name given to prose, or writing, that’s just too flowery, too melodramatic - in short, too overdone. There would tend to be a surfeit of adjectives and descriptive details.
I knew it was not current when the article mentioned making rayon for tires. To my knowledge, rayon hasn’t been used in automobile tires for a long, long time.
I realized that later after another cup of coffee.
I’m even slower on the draw than usual lately due to whole brain radiation so please bear with me.
Still, it was a good application of the term since everyone’s “favorite” union uses purple.
I really wanted to say something clever, but am at a loss. How did you find this article, (61 years old) and is there any chance for finding an article (61 years) into the future, and knowing it will happen?
It’s a good example of how the unions turn to violence when they don’t get their way.
