Can't believe CNN actually aired this verbal exchange... (Earthquake related)
03/13/2011

Posted on 03/13/2011 12:42:04 PM PDT by The Magical Mischief Tour

Earlier this AM CNN aired an exchange between a reporter stateside on the CNN set and a reporter in Japan.

The reporter in Japan was commenting on how calm and orderly everyone was while waiting in line at stores for water, food and gas.

He said that they had several full gas cans on their truck to get them where they were going and they felt comfortable leaving their vehicle unattended while going inside stores to buy food or to interview people.

He then compared it to his experiences during Katrina when their vehicle was completely looted of gas, food, water and even their personal gear and bags right under their noses.

He then said that the difference between the human response to the situation was almost night and day, the Japanese were very orderly and calm while the Katrina survivors were totally out of control.

I was amazed that CNN let him air such views. While completely truthful they show a side of our population we all know is there, but to speak of it, to even refer to it is viewed as racist...

it was a live report

next time perhaps they will have a 8 second delay like the super bowl halftime show these days and cut that part out.

To bad he didn’t reference the aftermath of many unpublicized catastrophes in the US where communities worked together.

I don’t think his point was that Japanese are more civilized than blacks. His point was that Japanese are more civilized than Americans.

Besides, it was all Bush’s fault. That has been thoroughly established and is understood by the CNN audience.

Yeah, someone would have gotten trouble for that if they were quicker to react. I can definitely see that comment being called racist, especially if it were uttered on talk radio.

My husband pointed out, when we were watching coverage of the clean up at Christchurch, that it was the citizens who were operating the fire hoses to clean up the sidewalks. No one was sitting around waiting for the government to come and clean up the mess.

Japanese have a strong sense of national identity. One way or another, they show personal responsibility in times like this. We could learn a thing or three from the Japanese.

I worked in Gulfport,MS after Katrina and travel over to N.O., LA.You would not belive the difference in the attitudes of the people in those two areas. In MS you saw a lot of people out in their own yards cleaning up, in LA I saw a lot of people sitting on their porches waiting for someone to do it for them. It was as different as night and day.

The church gave a handful of Katrina families several hundred prime acres of land here for a new church along with several nice brick homes and office buildings. When I say prime, I mean it. Cream of the crop. You can’t get any more P-R-I-M-E acreage. I’ve never seen any cars there on Sunday and haven’t heard of anyone who has attended church there but it’s all tax exempt. I drove by there yesterday and saw they had turned what used to be private roads owned and maintained for decades by the previous church are now county maintained roads....

You could also say uni-cultural society, vs. multicultural society. Less identity politics.

“Nothing more need to be said”. I believe a lot more needs to be said and done. We need to eradicate the scum from our country. I have a lot of respect for the Japanese people. They aren't the same people they were during WWII.

The tsunami was Bush's fault also - it's delayed Bush fault. The earthquake did occurred at the Bush Fault.

If I recall correctly, Bush whoopsed his cookies in Japan several years ago. As a result the earthquake occurred and caused the tsunami.
