Hmmm...

I was there in 2007 and there were plenty of hotties and we ate well. I can only comment on what I experienced.

I was prepared for the worst and came away pleasantly surprised.

British food is not terrible as much as it is boring. Some women are ugly some are not but they all seem to have bad teeth.

Wonder if the CEO of Burger King dines on the corporate product often.

Guess their marketing research focussed on England as a location where the Burger King product would be appreciated. I wonder how many Burger King’s there are in France.

Manchester for sure had hot chicks in the clubs. Overall, I’d rate what I saw as a being pretty equal distribution to what you’d see here in MA/NE.

No curry and chips. I had meat pie and room temperature ale though. Not great, but not putrid either. The “fancy” restaurant I went to was “39 Steps” and the food was fabulous.

39 steps named after a Hitchcock movie no doubt.
Glad that you enjoyed yourself beer should be served at room temp unless it tastes like piss then you chill it..

With the exception of getting sick on some bad oysters a decade ago in Cambridge I’ve generally enjoyed british food. They have some of the best biryanis and vindaloos I’ve ever had.

No, no, no...with Malt Vinegar :>)

I became addicted to malt vinegar after visiting England in the 90's - love the stuff on anything us Yanks would put Ketchup on.

LOL, the British have no “food” of their own except Yorkshire Pudding. Fish & Chips and a beef dish or two. They may have chefs who cook Italian, French or whatever but take it from someone who has spent years over there, their own food dishes leave everything to be desired.

A lot of their actresses are sure hot. Love the accent.

I think the food thing is propaganda from the French. They export billions in foodstuffs every year.

You gotta have a steak of your choice, the size of a toilet seat lid, at my place, before you give out first place.

No fair, I never ate at your place -- I don't even know where it is.

Shark steaks, maybe? Rattlesnake? Angus you said -- Angus sheep? They have lots of critters in Angus, Scotland. Or is it Angus, Nebraska?

Ah! Was it the mighty muffaletta from Central Grocery in the Quarter, opposite Morning Call and near Jackson Square?

If one of their competitors, go back and try again ..... and make sure it's a cold sandwich, the guys who heat 'em up only spoil the chopped olive relish and make it over into a completely different sandwich, something that ought to end in "......hoagie".

(Get a half sandwich -- a fullsized one serves a platoon.)

First of all, you have to define “British” food. Does he mean English food, Scots food, Welsh food, Irish food? All are a bit different. Is he talking traditional English food? If so, that’s country fare, just good decent stuff which by the way is making a comeback thanks to some visionary chefs.

Indian food is not “British” food, nor is Italian, nor Asian food. Just like everywhere else in the civilized world, the larger the city, the more choices you have. You can find great resturants in London and New York, you can also find crap. The food in the cities varies. What people cook at home and what passes for take away is vastly different.

I like it better than catchup and certainly better than sauce mayonnaise on fried potatoes

And the reason for that would be an industrial revolution and two world wars. With food rationing a lot of the good traditional stuff disappeared, especially that which required any spices (which were unobtainable).

Unlike pretty much everywhere else in the world, the best British food has always been served in people's homes, never in top restaurants. So I think most people have an unreasonable downer on it. It's not helped by the fact that our own chefs and gourmets do not support it in any way. The reason we have so many top chefs who major Italian, French or Indian dishes is that British food is utterly unique. If you were raised on it (as I was) then everyone else's idea of food is exotic, by definition!

I haven't eaten at a Burger King in decades, after I read in the news of a food-handling and intentional poisoning scandal perpetrated by employees at one of their outlets.  This could happen at any fast-food store I'm sure but it just put me off the brand.  Yes, it was THAT bad of a scandal.  I won't go into detail, given that this is a family site.

I've loved the Indian food in London.  I'll leave it at that.  It's a matter of personal taste and what you're used to, I'm sure.

That being said, there are definitely some 'interesting' things that can be found:
