“Despite the fact that the Postal Service is on the edge of insolvency, the union and management have reached an agreement that is a ‘win-win,’ proposition,” he said.

Well, that's got to be the quote of the day;)

Funny, for people (taxpayers) who rely on USPS, it’s lose-lose.

What about overtime rules? Are they just as convoluted, more convoluted, or less?

As it stands, our overtime rules are about as complex as the federal tax code. I’d like some simplicity.

So, with electronic mail and UPS or FedEx for packages, who needs these bastards anyway?

We can't get the bums to deliver our mail once the ground turns white. 7 mail deliveries since first of January. Screw the Postal nonWorkers.

You don’t. I’m horrifically overpaid, I wouldn’t pay someone more than ten bucks an hour for what I do. And I make many times that.

But hey, I’m a greedy capitalist and once it ceases to work for me, I’ll be off elsewhere. Personally, I need to leave the job ASAP because I can feel it sapping my work ethic. People actually get mad at you if you work too hard.

Well Wally, obviously you are unaware that the USPS already delivers a significant amount of UPS and FEDEX packages that those 2 companies find not profitable to deliver. That’s right, they back their trucks right up to the USPS dock to off load packages to be delivered by USPS. Whooda thunk Huh?

a 3.5% pay increase over the life of the contract? How excessive!! Don’t most employees get that in 1 year?

Which is because the USPS has so little package delivery to do now that they prostitute their time on the backs of the taxpayers!
Never heard of Make Work and the New Deal??
How else would those union workers be able to claim paychecks?

That is exactly what the USPS is!

Fire them all!

I am sick and tired of having things stolen in the mail. I am sick and tired of nasty $80,000 a year clerks snarling at me when I try to buy stamps.

Fire them all!

I went to the downtown LA post office and during lunch time, ONE clerk was processing the mail at the counter.

ONE.

During lunch time...the line was 20...with 8 counters. It was freakin unbelievable.

Including the large number of veterans who work at USPS who risked their lives and served their country so you could have the freedom to post assinine posts.

Obviously you work for the post office.

Are you aware of how much mail is stolen every day? Are you aware of how nasty some of your co-workers are? Maybe you’re one of them - given that you call other people’s posts assinine.

Here is just one example from the other day: I was the only person in the post office. There were SIX! of your co-workers standing around gabbing. All of a sudden a few people came into the post office. All the “workers” (I use that term loosely) disappeared. When I left there were about 12 people in line and just one person at the the counter. The other five were out in back gabbing.

I’m sorry you have to work for such a miserable organization - but there are perks. You get to join a union, you get to work with some really unattractive people so you can feel superior, you make an average of 85k a year, and you get to keep all the $$$ you pilfer.

Does it sound like I have a very low opinion of the USPS? You’re right.

I suppose you'd hate me then. I work for the USPS. I show up at 6:30 a.m. in a damned blizzard, deliver in less than 1/10th of a mile visibiliy, until there was over a foot of snow, and I was stuck for the twentieth time. But feel free to claim double what I make, and impugn ALL of us as a bunch of thieving bastards. Oh, did I mention I didn't join the union, and have no intentions of ever doing so?

I hereby invite you to come along someday and ride with me. Hopefully it will be sometime around Christmas when I'm working 10+ hours per day. I hope you can eat lunch while driving in the dust, mud, snow, heat and cold, because I don't stop or take breaks. Oh, can you change a tire? That'd be great.

I can change your attitude about the Postal Service in ONE DAY. Guaranteed.
