Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck announced Monday that his officers will no longer automatically tow the cars of illegal immigrant drivers stopped at sobriety checkpoints.
The policy comes in response to the concerns of Latino civil rights activists, who say impound fees are unfairly costing otherwise hardworking illegal immigrant drivers hundreds of dollars.
Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said his department impounds about 1,000 cars a year from illegal immigrants at sobriety checkpoints – not because they’re drunk but because they don’t have driver’s licenses.
“As we reviewed our impound policies it became obvious to me that they had disparate impact on individuals based on something that was entirely out of their control," Beck said

I think it will be a good day when Mexico owns Kalifornia and its debt and Barbara Boxer and Nasty Pelosi and Hollyweird and San Fran-sissy-sko. Give the U.S. the Cental Valley as compensation and take the coast.
Why would anyone not follow the dots & understand that this nation is soon to be a 3rd world country. I suppose that the fence is going to be finished...and these great new Tea Party CONgress critters are going to cut the budget more than 5%.
This, and the fact Utah went sanctuary today makes for a couple setbacks vs the illegals.
California should quit the kubuki dance, raise the Mexican flag over Sacramento already and save us all the trouble of doing it in the future. Mexico already has controlling authority over it anyway.

Does the cop say, "please don't drive your car home because you don't have a license?"
Or does he say, "have a good day sir and let him drive off?"
Either way it would seem cheaper if a citizen gets pulled over to say they don't have a license.
Today, they impound the car. They call a tow service and stay at the site until your car is taken away. Then you’re on your own. It happened to a friend of mine (who let their license expire). The CHP did give him a ride off the freeway to a phone booth.
It happened to me a long time ago from a DMV error (of course the DMV denied it). The police ask me if I had AAA or a towing service I didn’t at the time and it was taken to an impound yard and i was left to walk home.

Our government, from the federal down to the municipal, has nothing but contempt for American citizens. These illegal aliens are straining our system, closing hospitals and bankrupting treasuries, and nobody (in either party) will do a damn thing about it. The reason why the TEA Party is attacked as racist is because they are “Taxed Enough Already”, and any reduction in taxes is a reduction in handouts to both the permanent underclass and the illegal Bronze Horde. The fact that the TEA Party uses an American flag (albeit an early version) is somehow a further indication of how their ideals are incompatible with our American way of life. At this point they are the only political organization (such as it is) that represents me in any way; Dems & Repubs are simply 2 heads of the same hydra.
These impound yards pay big dollars for the towing concession. They also make big dollars impounding valuable cars from registered owners that pay to recover them. Most Illegals neither have a valuable car nor will pay to recover them, so the cars are a net loss to store. I’m guessing since the cars are worthless at auction, those towing and storage fees eventually get billed to the city.
