What was portrayed as “coolness” during the campaign has proven to be a weird detachment from what is going on. The statements he reads from his teleprompter are delivered with a complete lack of any presence in the moment. He could be reading a recipe. Then he goes off on another vacation....Very strange indeed!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Obama will not be the Dem candidate in the general election in 2012. They will find a face-saving way out for him, but he will be out. No donors will squander funds on a long-shot re-election bid, and the other Dems “down the ticket” from him don’t want to be sacrificed as their comrades were in 2009 & 2010.

I’d forgotten about that. Perhaps he wasn’t just punch drunk.
He is way out of his league. And perhaps he know it: Hence the escapism.
