The Politics of Picking an FBI Director (Jamie Gorelick considered by the rookie Hussein? WTF!)

The Politics of Picking an FBI Director
By Evan Perez
March 16, 2011, 12:11 PM ET.

For a job designed to be apolitical, there’s plenty of politics to consider as the Obama administration picks the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Mark Filip, deputy attorney general during the Bush administration, said one reason FBI Director Robert Mueller has many admirers in both political parties is that he’s viewed as honest and non-political in handling sensitive national security and criminal investigations. Mr. Mueller’s 10-year term ends in early September.

Among the candidates being discussed, according to U.S. officials, are James Comey, former deputy attorney general in the Bush administration; Kenneth Wainstein, a former head of the Justice Department’s national security division and Bush White House homeland security adviser; Patrick Fitzgerald, the top federal prosecutor in Chicago; and Merrick Garland, a federal judge on the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals and a finalist for the Supreme Court vacancy in 2010.

Also mentioned are: Michael Mason, former senior FBI official whose candidacy is backed by an organization of current and former FBI agents; John Pistole, head of the Transportation Security Administration and Mr. Mueller’s former deputy; and Jamie Gorelick, former Clinton deputy attorney general.

Mr. Garland is a Clinton appointee and is viewed as a moderate on the bench. Winning Senate confirmation as FBI director could ease his path for a future Supreme Court seat or as attorney general if President Barack Obama wins a second term.

Some of the potential picks are veterans of political battles.

DAG Eric Holder was repeatedly told the “Wall” was blocking intel sharing
911FamiliesForAermica.org ^ | January 27, 2009 | Tim Sumner

Three times during his tenure as Deputy Attorney General, Eric Holder was made fully aware that intelligence sharing with the Criminal Division was not taking place. As the officer in charge of day-to-day operations at the Department of Justice, his lack of due diligence ensured that the ‘Wall’ between the intelligence and criminal divisions of the FBI that Jamie Gorelick had built would remain in place for the foreseeable future. The ‘Wall’ stood as the Clinton administration and intelligence community saw the rising threat of al Qaeda, Ramzi Yousef was prosecuted for making the bomb used in the 1993 attack upon the World Trade Center and “Bojinka” plot to bomb American jetliners, and our embassies in Africa were attacked in 1998.

Guess who’s been involved intimately with Fannie Mae (Anyone remember Jamie Gorelick?)
Rush Limbaugh .com ^ | 7/16/08 | The Maha

From the Maha -

Guess who’s been involved intimately with Fannie Mae? Does the name Jamie Gorelick ring a bell? This woman is everywhere, and Jamie Gorelick got a 26 million payout when she left the place. Jamie Gorelick got 26 million to leave, one of Clinton’s guys, Franklin Raines, Franklin Raines, he was kicked out after corrupting the place. He left shortly before he was taking it in the shorts, but he got out of there with no penalty whatsoever. What is it with these Clinton people? This is why we don’t get any tell-all books on the Clinton administration because they were all set up in these sweetheart deals — money, money, money, money — I still can’t get over this. Congress is not helping poor old Doug Gylfe, so now we have millions of Americans who are priced out of home ownership, which is how this all started. “Any rescue policy to stem forecloses could artificially prop up home prices and perpetuate the affordability crisis,” yet I’ll guaran-damn-tee you if government did nothing and home prices continue to fall then tomorrow the AP would write a story whining and moaning about the lack of asset value for people who still do own their houses. We just can’t win with these people.

Also named:...and Jamie Gorelick, former Clinton deputy attorney general.

What a swell choice. She did such a grand job in all her other positions. Screwing up our intelligence gathering to create 9/11. Neck deep in the accounting scandal at Fannie Mae. Lying on the 9/11 commission.

10 years running the FBI should turn out very well.

Don’t forget about Mayor Ballerina’s Chicago cemetery voters who will no doubt give birth and multiply prior to November 2012. I imagine Obama can count on 20,000,000 Democrat votes out of Chicago in 2012 or however many he needs.

If anyone is interested in how uninteresting it is to be head of the FBI or CIA read the book “Wedge”. Guaranteed you’ll come away with a whole different outlook on the FBI and CIA. This country is in trouble. Security of the U.S. sucks because of all the infighting.

Gorelick has remained below the public radar. Her nomination will open a can of worms. Senate Republicans can ask her questions related to her tenure at Fannie Mae and a load of other issues related to Clinton shenanigans.

From SLATE, 9-16-08:

. . .Jamie S. Gorelick, whose official résumé describes her as “one of the longest serving Deputy Attorneys General of the United States,” a position she held during the Clinton administration. Although Gorelick had no background in finance, she joined Fannie Mae in 1997 as vice chair and departed in 2003. For her trouble, Gorelick collected a staggering $26.4 million in total compensation, including bonuses. Federal investigators (PDF) would later say that “Fannie Mae's management directed employees to manipulate accounting and earnings to trigger maximum bonuses for senior executives from 1998 to 2003.” The New York Times would call the manipulations an “$11 billion accounting scandal.” Gorelick, it should be noted, has never been charged with any wrongdoing. . .

Naming Jamie Gorelick head of the FBI would be like electing Anton LaVey, Pope.

Gorelick is a non-starter, and everybody knows it.

She has the blood of 3,000 Americans on her hands and is unapologetically partisan. She will do ANYTHING to advance the interests of her (Democrat) party and its communist agenda. Gorelick is corrupt to the core.

The Senate would never confirm her. Period.
Her name is thrown out there strictly as a red herring.
