WASHINGTON -Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday she does not want to stay in her job if President Barack Obama wins a second term in 2012.
The nation's top diplomat also firmly said she neither has plans to mount another White House bid nor interest in other posts, such as vice president or defense secretary.
Clinton, visiting Cairo, was asked whether she would stay on in a second Obama term. She also was asked if she would like the jobs of president, vice president or defense secretary. She offered single word responses to each: "No."
Speculation about Clinton's future is always high and she has been mentioned as a possible successor to Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who has told Obama he is stepping down. In an interview with CNN, Clinton made clear she has no interest in running the Pentagon or repeating her 2008 presidential run.
"You know, I had a wonderful experience running and I am very proud of the support I had and very grateful for the opportunity, but I'm going to be, you know, moving on," Clinton said.
"I am doing what I want to do right now and I have no intention or any idea even of running again. I'm going to do the best I can at this job for the next two years," she said.

I can't blame her for not wanting to stay in Obama's cabinet particularly in light of his indecision in foreign affairs.
This time I believe her.
If she starts losing weight, washing and cutting her hair and smiling again, I’ll know she’s running. But right now - she’s tired and wants OUT.
She does look tired and I bet she hates Hussein.
We really need to get rid of all these children and get adults back in charge.
One could argue that outside of producing cheap, misspelled trinkets that Clinton no interest in her job right now.
“She does look tired”
You’re right—I could hardly recognize her when I saw her on CNN yesterday, in her interview with Wolf Blitzer.
Hillary isn’t stupid.
She can read the handwriting on the wall.
Obama’s Presidency has damaged the United States economy almost as badly as the Japanese tsunami has damaged the Japanese economy.
She knows another 4 years would be calamatous, and she knows it will take 20 years of Conservative politics to get it straight. If we can find any Conservatives ion the republican party, which right now looks pretty bad.
I seem to remember her saying just about the exact same thing in 2007 with respect to her position as New York Senator.
The way the sentence is structured, you could conclude she'd do it if anyone else is elected.
Well, we have no interest in the “world’s smartest woman” continuing her services even through this day, much less 2013. But the American people will be so “disappointed” in her decision.
Pass out candy on the streets.
L o v e your response, very droll.
Had the Hilldabest gotten into office it would be hell to get her out in a second term
I agree... She’s gained weight, looks very tired, and might not be well. Her face has rounded considerably - which could be suggestive of certain kinds of systemic steroid therapy.
I don’t think she has any intention of running. She’s shown that she can do so without slowing down even when she has no chance of winning, but I see no benefit to her in doing so.
As you say - if she starts losing weight and trying to appear less haggard, that might be a sure sign of interest. But right now, I don’t see it. She really looks to me like someone who has a lot wearing down on her.
