When was the last time someone died from the American Nuclear Power Generating industry?

How many lives has it saved?

How is The Eternal Bamnation going to recharge all of the VOLTS?

How are they going to refine the PREMIUM GRADE gasoline it takes to run the freaking VOLTS?

When is America going to say ENOUGH?

Shut down domestic oil drilling.
Shut down domestic nuclear power.
Shut down coal mining.

When Obama gets done his change will make us hopeless.

To keep things in perspective: Japan has 55 operating nuclear power plants. They just experienced a Richter 9.0 earthquake and a tsunami. Of those 55 plants, one (ONE) is in trouble. Not to minimize the seriousness of the problems at Fukushima Daiichi, but that is a pretty d—n good safety record.

We need only to look at whose fault it is that most of our nuclear plants are 40 years old!!!! HELLO!!! Just as with everything else, the government screwed up again!

Post Three Mile Island, no industry has been as strongly regulated as the US commercial nuclear facilities. This is knee jerk, and if Barry goes ‘Merkel’ and REMOVES 20% of the US grid supply...welcome to the 1800s.

ABSOLUTELY! People, get informed before you go patting Barry on the back for this!

"What do you think the NRC does all year...(?)" If they're like most government agencies, a good bit of their time is spent surfing porn.

Working in the nuclear industry, I can tell you the NRC is on our backs constantly, I mean daily! It's a good thing though!

Upthread I was told ‘rolling blackouts wouldn’t bode well for Obama’s re-election...’ Yet we have conservatives patting BHO on the back, all but giving FR ‘shout outs’ to him that we NEED to do redundant studies, at a co$t of no doubt millions. Its wasteful and NOT needed (and I know this as DH also works in the nuke industry).

He shut down Gulf drilling. Now he wants to find an excuse to end nuke power in the US, to leave us totally dependent upon his foreign masters.

Give me a break, the nuke industry is THE MOST REGULATED energy sector in the U.S. Those guys can’t take a crap without having some regulated procedure. Who is going to perform the inspections? The same people that are there all the time.

All this will amount to is additional overtime for government employees.

Yup.

No nukes
No coal
No oil
No gas

That should produce a robust America when 90 percent of our energy production is done away with. The left in this country are going to kill us all.

Meanwhile, a look at China's Nuclear power plant starts in just the last 3 years:

Exactly.

In Utah,
Kaiparowits = world’s largest supply of clean burn coal. Locked up for Ryadi/Indonesian campaign contributions to Clinton.

San Rafael = uranium. Gone. Now a recreational area (don’t get yellow cake on yer birkenstocks.

Green River formation = oil shale. Wait for it... it’s coming.

Tar Sands... ditto.

Now shale and tar sands are being “reviewed”

You can bet the outhouse that a stake is being prepared to be driven into natural gas’s shale frac heart. Offshore is dead. ANWR? pipe dream.

Nothing in politics is by accident. We have been systematically denied energy independence. The resources and the engineering are there. Our industrial and economic death has been planned for decades. It’s nearly complete.

Entirely appropriate course of action.

Entirely stupid course of action. Regulations are already in place for design and operation. You can not regulate a change in reality -we got the designs we got...

This is nothing more than taking advantage of an opportunity to grow government -spend more money, and DO NOTHING!!!!

Relax. Halfrican’s only trying to make NRC more TSAish. You know - body cavity searches of all power company employees, etc. It’s for your own safety.

When was the last time the U.S. built a nuclear power plant?

The left has enslaved us to the whims of despotic regimes for our energy needs all the while making America weaker and weaker. It’s called the enemy within. Treason.

What an extreme embarrassment this idiot pretender to the presidency is. But, as always, my thanks to each and every idiot who voted for him.

The president said U.S. officials do not expect harmful levels of radiation to reach the West Coast of the continental U.S., Hawaii or Alaska. He repeated the statement for emphasis.

Someone needs to clue these idiots in the media in some facts.

Radiation requires a source -either a radioactive source or something contaminated by a radioactive source. Each and every item contaminated has a half-life -many measured in hours...

Will the US see radiation -not unless we see contaminated particles that have not decayed...

Americans are in more danger from radon gas (that also sets of radiation detectors) in their basements than they are in danger from Japan...

Why not just do this in places prone to 9.0 earthquakes and tsunamis? Why everywhere?

“Entirely appropriate course of action.”

I disagree, I think the NRC has plenty of inspections and reviews now. A nuke plant is one of the most regulated and inspected places on Earth. What will be discovered by another review?

I suspect he’ll recommend shutting a few down “temporarily” for “safety concerns” “for the children”.

He felt the need to Do Something because of Japan. He feels better now.
