Sandra Bullock donates $1 million for Japan relief

dra Bullock has donated $1 million to the Red Cross for Japan disaster relief, her rep confirms to Scoop. While other celebrities have made various gestures to encourage donation and raise money, this is the largest known donation made by a celebrity since the 9.0 magnitude earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis.

This isn't the first time that Bullock has risen to the occasion charitably. She was honored for her contributions in rebuilding a New Orleans public school after Hurricane Katrina and last year donated $1 million for earthquake victims in Haiti.

Did she issue a press release? I've not a clue. I suspect it would be pretty difficult for this not to become public knowledge.

For the amount to be known to her contemporaries she has set the bar for donation amounts.

Nah, I think Pelosi's Dad was fairly wealthy; he'd been the mayor of Baltimore, after all, and parlayed that fame into some bucks.

She’s a great gal. My daughter was a PA in the movies for about 5 years. Bullock was the kind of actress who got coffee for the crew. Very German, very unpretentious, very practical. She should have stayed away from that low-life. But I guess she is no angel.

The president of the American Red Cross was on with either Shep or Neil Cavuto yesterday and was asked about money being donated not actually going to the Japan crisis.

This, no doubt, arises from the stories back during hurricanes in Florida and then Katrina, about funds going to the "general fund" or not necessarily going to help a current crisis.

Instead, the president explained that 91% of every dollar donated goes directly to help victims of disaster. That is one of the highest percentages in the country. It doesn't answer the question that I think most people have, but it does explain how much is going to officers and administrative costs. 9%

But then she proved she didn't have much sense when she married the ugly thug with wall to wall tatoos who was living with a 'porn star' and drove around with friends displaying a Nazi flag. Bullock, give your millions to American Cancer research or heart research. It might even get you more publicity for your cheesy movies. .
