I'm sure he's scared, the Europeans and UN are coming! lol
For him it's an end game. The only way he'll respond to threats and the use of force is if we frame it in context with an exit for him. Otherwise this is a nothing to loose situation and he'll go down in a bloody mess.
The world is stranger than fiction. Here's a man that killed Americans, sponsored terrorism, was ruthless as a dictator, was involved in ship hijackings, arms trade to rouge nations, fired missiles on Sicily, declared 1/3 of the Mediterranean as his national waters and threatened to attack all those that entered this space....... and today we find ourselves in the precarious situation of trying to formulate an exit strategy for him or else risk massive blood shed in his own country. How does one help someone who in reality you'd like to see hang?

Here's an article that offers a brief political history of Libya, for anyone who is interested.

"the international community will impose consequences."
If these are anything like the "serious consequences" the UN unanimously imposed on Saddam, Gadhafi's home free.

That’s like the UN saying they’ll pass a more strongly-worded resolution.

I think our President has not yet seen Team America World Police:
Hans Blix: I’m sorry, but the UN must be firm with you. Let me in, or else.
Kim Jong Il: Or else what?
Hans Blix: Or else we will be very angry with you... and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are.

It looks like UN international law and 0bama have declared that nations are no longer allowed to defend themselves from rebels. Why are the demonstrators not referred to as insurgent?
If it ever gets bad enough here that The People will revolt will the UN and a coalition of nations step in and help 0bama retain control?

This puts me in an awful place. I always support our troops in harms way but we should stay out of this. I’d like to see Gaddafi prefail against these unknown “freedom fighters”. So I am rooting for him and not us unfortunately and just hope our boys stay out of the way.

Obama is being abandonded by Ms Sect'y of State and the leftwing press on his weak and tardy action on Libya. To regain his stature, he may have to resort to personal diplomacy by flying to Tripoli to meet personally with Khadaffi -
please, please , take this action as soon as possible Mr. President. ...you could even take a couple of beers along to help smooth things over!

President Barack Obama demanded Friday that Gadhafi halt military assaults against civilians and said that if the Libyan leader did not stand down the United States would join in military action against him. Being fluent in Obonics, I can translate this:
Go for it, Mo. We both know if I could get away with doing to the Tea Partiers what you're doing to your citizens I'd do it in a heartbeat.
