Egypt's interim government has released the brother of Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's second in command, his lawyer told CNN on Friday.
Mohamed al-Zawahiri was released Thursday along with scores of other political prisoners after orders from Egypt's Interior Ministry, said Nizar Ghorab, who claimed al-Zawahiri was tortured in prison.
Al-Zawahiri had been in jail since 1999 after being detained and extradited from the United Arab Emirates on allegations that he was linked to the assassination of former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. Al-Zawahiri was acquitted on the assassination charges but later was accused of conspiring against the Egyptian government.

Did they put a microchip in his ear?
This is not good..
We’ll be begging for Mubarak to be back in power before this is all over.
It’s the “Democracy” they demanded.
Freedom! Democracy!.... all at work.
Did he get a commission on the UN’s human rights board so he can go and promote democracy with his brother?
Democracy=Two wolves and one sheep deciding what’s for dinner
not good ... Action <—> Reaction ... already showing up?
and btw I did note this happened on Friday.
If he can be tracked, this is probably a good thing, but considering the government we have in place, they are probably to stupid to think of it.
If I were in charge, I’d track him to his brother, then take them both out.
Instead we got Democrat lawyers in place to make sure we don’t hurt the feelings of terrorists.
Liberals are pure scum bags and will always choose the interests of the enemy over the United States.
I’ll bet he’s on his way to Libya and there is no tracking device on him.
It's the END for America!
Thanks, O. The stupidity astounds me.
Put a tail on him,......please.
It was sewn deep inside his scrotum. Muslims will never think to cut those off in order to find it.
It would be hypocritical of them to keep him locked up on those grounds.
Of course, it will all end badly unless we have eyes on him.
I heard they knocked him out while he was asleep, and kept him asleep for two day and did a quick heal to cover our tracks.
yep, you are correct ... I think we should ask for our posts to be pulled. Don’t want to tip them off.
Its the Democracy they demanded.
Pushing and cheering for Mubbarak to be ousted was one of the most foolish foreign policy decisions ever. We were on the wrong side in Egypt. The guy was not perfect but he had been perfect for peace. We will regret it.
We should have supported the uprising in Iran if getting involved in Libya is in our national interests. Iran should have been a no-brainer. I have mixed feelings on Libya. I think the “rebel” leadership hates us too but perhaps the people will remember that we supported them and let’s hope we avoid civilian casualties.
By striking command and control assets I will not be surprised if we take Quackydaffy out via a bomb really quick. I hope that is the plan! The longer it drags out the worse it will be for us.
I’m sure Obama is “inspired.”
(Unconfirmed because I don’t have an article source; but fyi.)

Check out article.
Thanks Cindy, I hope this is true. If you do find confirmation please ping me, if you get the chance.
Never fear. We have the same eyes on him as we do on OBL.
Thanks, Oorang. I didn’t know that Ayman had a brother, much less one in prison.
The things I learn on FR, every day. ;-)
I sure will Oorang.

SNIPPET: “Cairo - Mohamed al-Zawahiri, brother of al-Qaeda’s second highest commander, was arrested two days after he released from custody in Egypt, a security source said Sunday.”
In a dramatic turn-around, despite his brief release from prison, Zawahiri reportedly now faces a 1998 death sentence imposed in absentia.
