WASHINGTON (AP) - More than 100 anti-war protesters, including the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers, were arrested outside the White House on Saturday in demonstrations marking the eighth anniversary of the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

The protesters, some shouting anti-war slogans and singing "We Shall Not Be Moved," were arrested after ignoring orders to move away from the gates of the White House. The demonstrators cheered loudly as Daniel Ellsberg, the former military analyst who in 1971 leaked the Pentagon's secret history of the Vietnam War that was later published in major newspapers, was arrested and led away by police.

In New York City, about 80 protesters gathered near the U.S. military recruiting center in Times Square, chanting "No to war" and carrying banners that read, "I am not paying for war" and "Butter not guns."

Similar protests marking the start of the Iraq war were also planned Saturday in Chicago, San Francisco and other cities.

The demonstration in Washington on Saturday merged varied causes, including protesters demanding a U.S. military withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan as well as those supporting Bradley Manning, the jailed Army private suspected of giving classified documents to the website Wikileaks.

**SNIP**

There was little talk of the U.S. missile strikes against Moammar Gadhafi's forces in Libya on Saturday, part of an international effort to protect rebel forces.

“...demonstrations marking the eighth anniversary of the U.S.-led war in Iraq.”

Oh! The irony.

Here’s a fun way to tweak those with “anti-war conviction”: ask them if they would support a US-led war against Israel.

The Iraq war is so 10 minutes ago. What about protests for the war police action intervention enforcement of a UN Resolution ... whatever it is, that's going on over Libya?

Wait. WHAT war are they protesting? Oh yeah, the evil George Bush war of 8 years ago.

Not TODAY’s angelic Obama war.

Ok....

I was hoping to see a following phrase saying "and was subsequently shot while trying to escape".

Libya has been very painful for O. I think he realizes that there are far more similarities between Gadhafi and Saddam than there are differences. Losing Calypso Louie will seriously limit O’s options for poll watchers. Now Code Pink is bailing. Har Har Har

Did anyone clue these tools in to the fact that their savior ordered an unprovoked attack against Libya today?

I was in Vietnam when the dirtbag Ellberg leaked the `Pentagon papers’ and suddenly we were being fired upon with heatseekers and the `ragtag communist peasant army’ began sporting tanks and APCs (FWIW I flew Hueys).

At the time I wanted his sorry traitor @ss dead. Now I’d be content for some sixtysomething vet like me to beat the snot out of him. Won’t these evil b@stards ever go away?
