Sarah Palin Suggests Things Might Have Been Better For GOP Had She Been On Top Of Ticket In ‘08

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin suggested Republicans would have fared better in 2008 had she, not John McCain, been the messenger of change for the GOP. I wasnt at the top of the ticket, remember?
Speaking at the India Today Conclave in New Delhi, Palin was asked why Republicans were unable to defeat Barack Obama in 2008. Palin told Aroon Purie, editor of India Today that Obama was able to cast himself as the change candidate, and that things might have gone differently had she been the GOPs presidential candidate. Palin did not suggest that she should have been the nominee.

The article seems confused.

This article is an absolute misrepresentation of what she said. Another example of how the media takes her words and puts their interpretation in as fact...she did not indicate this...she made the statement essentially that Obama indicated change and people were wanting change...the reference was that she ran on the need for change also so why didn’t she win the election and she replied she wasn’t the head of the ticket but that she didn’t mean she should have been. Actually....SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN!

I am sure if Sarah had been the Candidate she wouldn’t have said that Obama would make a great President, like Dudley McCain stated.

Obama won because they have "blocks"....Blacks, hispanics, women, seniors...basically the needy AND THE UNIONS. Obama did the exact same thing as Hitler...promised them everything.
In working households, I see it over and over...women cancelling hubby's vote, whole familes of gimmees running to the polls.
To: Ira_Louvin
Come on, Mc Cain would have gone down like Mondale and Mc Govern had he not had Palin on the ticket. Mc Cain was boring, boring, boring and his campaign became energized once Palin got into the picture. Most were voting for her not Mccain, if anything Mc Cain kept most voters home.

yeah that’s sounding a bit cocky if you ask me. And so far Sarah Palin is one I’ve been looking at as the most possible GOP candidate.

Joke or not... these headlines in FR show in Google results. Could turn off a lot of future Palin voters.
I get it though. Posting such titles to get a response from the anti-Palin Freepers. It's funny now but...
as I said, these titles show up in Google results and most Americans get their news from titles only.
No wonder so many people think of Palin like they do. It's a shame. Up to now Palin is probably the best GOP candidate we have.
To: Sarah-bot
I can’t wait for the RINO’s to start on her about what I thought was the key quote of the interview when she said something like most of the GOP has the fighting insticts of sheep.

If it were not for Sarah, I was planning on writing in Fred Thompson.
I could not just stay home and not participate...although some might see my “write in” as a throw away, which I do not.
I went and pulled that lever for Sarah....and Sarah alone.

Exactly - pretty scary to think of the tipping point we are near, where >50% of the country thinks it’s OK to be a parasite and vote in the Dims that make it possible. Hard to recover from that.

A very effective article. It does exactly what the writer intended; damage Palin by getting Conservatives fighting with each while liberals laugh their asses off. Just read some of the comments posted at the site. It is deliberately ambiguous about what she said and the context. It just convinces me the left is absolutely terrified by the prospect of her running.
To: NoGrayZone
Regardless of her place on the ticket the Republicans chose poorly and offered Americans yet another in a long line of RINOS. McCain couldn’t get my vote, so how in the hell could Republicans expect that he would capture any Reagan Dems? Sarah’s observation is dead-on, yet again.

Actually, it wasn’t just the Republicans. Are we not an “open” primary?
We need to close that gap so that actual Republicans CAN choose our own candidate.

As much as I love Sarah, obama as the product of a "perfect storm", I don't think anyone would have beat him in '08.
There were too many mechanisms in place for obama to NOT win, and whether fair or foul, they apexed simultaneously and gave us all a goon for a president.
And now that he's won - and stashed a good wad of TARP money back for re-election - he could pull it off again if we don't show up en masse and push him back to kenya.
But, if he wins again, America is done - at least the America we all know; But America will resemble Cuba more than it will resemble Europe. And obama will resemble Castro more than Jimmy Carter (or any of the other past presidents he's tried to tie his wagon too).
It's going to take a real wallbanger to excite the base, and people like Romney, Huckaby, and Newt just won't do it...it will be "mccain" all over again. They're peas in a pod.
There's a lot more than just the budget to straighten out and undo, and we need someone with the nerve to do it; it doesn't look like John "bob dole" Boeher is going to be up to the job, they've already neutered Darrell Issa. The Congressmen and women with the courage and the ideas are being held at bay by the good ol' boys while the democrats act like they are still in the majority and run the show.
And we were so sure they would get a handle on things, huh? But there is proof right there why the election MUST be a slam-dunk in 2012...there must be no question what the mandate is and whom we have chosen to carry it out.
I believe Palin in one, based on her courage alone.
