"Gunwalking" scandal final straw leading to resignation of U.S. ambassador to Mexico
CBS News ^ | March 20, 2011 | Sharyl Attkisson

The U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Carlos Pascual, has resigned under pressure.

In recent weeks, Mexico's President Felipe Calderon has said in public he doesn't trust Pascual (seen at left). Several sources close to diplomatic circles inside Mexico tell CBS News that from Mexico's viewpoint, the ATF "gunwalking" scandal was the final straw in a series of controversies.

First, Pascual has been dating the daughter of a mistrusted and alleged cartel-linked opposition legislator.

Second, Pascual's critical views of Mexico in secret U.S. diplomatic cables were leaked on WikiLeaks several weeks ago. In one cable, Pascual said Mexico had turned a blind eye to U.S. leads on how to capture drug lords.

More recently, Mexico has demanded information from the U.S. on the ATF controversy revealed by CBS News, in which ATF agents allegedly allowed thousands of weapons to cross the border, supposedly in a failed attempt to gain intelligence to take down a major drug cartel. Some Mexican legislators have publicly said ATF agents who crafted and carried out the strategy could be extradited to Mexico and arrested. The legislators quote ATF agent John Dodson, as interviewed in our report.

Published reports, including one in the Miami Herald, quote the White House as recently having said U.S. officials thought the tiffs would blow over.

Too bad the main person of interest has fled US territory! I hear extradition from Rio is rather difficult.

Mexico is a failed state who cannot enforce their laws. The only feeling of accomplishment they must get is when they browbeat the US. And, of course, we’re PC, so we take it. For this reason, it makes little difference who the Ambassador is to that steaming pile to the South.

A FACT:

The United States negligently armed criminals with modern weapons that have been and are currently being used to murder innocent Mexican citizens!

“A FACT:

Not the United States.

The BATFE !!

Haven’t we seen enough from this rogue agenda driven criminal agency?

Pressure congress. DE-FUND the BATFE NOW!!

Don’t forget we also have a murdered US federal agent because of the actions of the BATFE. Prison time is also in order for those responsible for carrying out a conspiracy that violated fedral laws. Yes when ATF heads instruct agents to let thousands of guns “walk” into Mexico that is a crime. “fast and furious” was an illegal conspiracy NOT a law enforecment action. It’s time to end the real firearms problem (BATFE) and prosecute those responsible.

Outstanding Obama Appointee. OO-Ah Hope his wife and girlfriend(s) don't find out. ¡Ay chihuahua, this could mean big trouble in two or three countries!

The "Gun Walk" is a strategy that could have only been dreamed up by the BATF. The real question is, "WTF authorized it?"

The BATF is the career choice for those of limited IQ who have been released by local law enforcement agencies, are too stupid for the FBI, physically unfit for the military, but who qualify on political influence and Affirmative Action grounds.

Perfect candidate: a black baby-Huie look-alike lesbian from Chicago, Must be able to say "Sorry about your dog, wrong house." en español.

It’s pretty bad when even the Mexicans think Obama and his BATFE are corrupt.

A FACT:

The United States negligently armed criminals with modern weapons that have been and are currently being used to murder innocent Mexican citizens!

ANOTHER FACT:

Some of the criminals the United States has armed with modern weapons are in the Mexican Army, who routinely murder innocent Mexican citizens. Others who we negligently armed but also murder innocent Mexican citizens are not in the Mexican Army. Some of both murder US law enforcement agents.

Reality is imitating art. See “A Touch of Evil” a Orson Welles-Charleton Heston vehicle famous to generations of film students for its long, uncut opening sequence.

We can defund this agency and fire all the employees (a move I would love to see) but with the criminals currently in the government, DHA will form another similar agency and rehire the renegades from the defunct BATFE, probably with back pay. Hey I have an idea: Lon Horiuchi could be the first director of the BTFEA!

Roger Hedgecock has been following this story day by day on his radio show. He believes the BATFE did this on orders from Holder and his boss so that when guns were found in Mexico, they could be traced back to gun stores in the US and voila, the meme about all the guns in Mexico coming from gun stores in the US becomes proven truth. Unintended consequences? It is to laugh!
