TRIANGLE, Va. (AP) - Wearing T-shirts and carrying signs bearing the smiling image of Army Pfc. Bradley Manning, hundreds of people rallied Sunday outside the base where he's being detained on charges of providing classified data to Wikileaks.
David House, a friend who has visited Manning about 15 times since September, told the protesters that Manning appreciated their support.
"It's stuff like this that gives Bradley hope," House said. "When I go in there, look him in the eyes and say, 'Bradley, there are people on the outside that support you,' his eyes light up."
Daniel Ellsberg, a Manning supporter who leaked the so-called Pentagon Papers in 1971, was one of the protesters arrested Sunday. Officers handcuffed some protesters and led them away after they refused to leave U.S. Route 1 in front of the base.
Short scuffles ensued as dozens of officers attempted to push the protesters, some of whom were seated on the pavement, away from the intersection. Many sat beneath a yellow banner that read, "Caution: Whistleblower Torture Zone."
Prince William County police said in a statement late Sunday that about 35 people were taken into custody and charged with unlawful assembly and careless interference with traffic. One protester was also charged with assault and battery of an officer.

David House is a researcher at MIT who helped set up the Bradley Manning Support Network, ...
House: One memo from Capitol Hill stated that the release of the cables had not damaged national security, but was highly embarrassing for a few politicians and diplomats. I think that is one of the primary motivating factors behind the revenge-like conditions they have imposed on Bradley.
House: I believe that individuals who witness outrageous crimes against humanity taking place have an obligation, not just as a US citizen but as a human being, to bring these injustices to light.
House: I shared mutual friends with Bradley before his arrest and I even met him once in Boston at a party.
David House, 23, is an IT expert from Boston who works for the Bradley Manning Support Network, which is campaigning on behalf of the alleged WikiLeaks whistleblower. In an interview with SPIEGEL ONLINE, House speaks about the charges against Manning, the harsh conditions under which he is being held and the possibility that he could face the death penalty.
What kind of “expert” can he be?
What kind of expert can he be? Try BJs.
This kid is a little snot-nosed shit who wouldn’t know his ass from a hole in his head except for someone taking his finger on an anatomy tour.
The media certainly can make “heroes” out of piles of crap.
That is why the mainstream TV media all have “C” in their abbreviations:
All Bull Crap
Nothing But Crap
Crap & Bull Shit
MSNBC - More Shit Nothing But Crap
CNN- Crappy News Now
My first reaction was to think that those dirtbags have as much right to protest as our Tea Partiers. Then I read the rest; they were blocking a public highway and refused to move; that was the reason for their arrest.
If our guys did the same, they should be arrested too.
Some of them were there because they wanted the rep as a rebel. .. Some a larger sample I suspect) because they see
opposition to anything the Military does right as Patriotic...
All of them I suspect were but useful idiots-pawns of the defense why else would he even be told there are people out there just as wicked as you are.
Is this a gay photo -or am I just reacting to the little sodomite soldier Manning-who just wanted to get his fan fixed after the falling out withhis special friend.
Hey next time post a warning— I am reading this while everyone else is asleep —and it’s too dam hard not to laugh OUT LOUD. T’anks for a most excellent observation.
Geeze they all look like recruits from the cult of Phred Phelps and the church of HATE AMERICA First.
Don’t hate me because I am gay (queer) as a three dollar bill.
Gee. I hope he wasn't violently injured "resisting arrest".
“When I go in there, look him in the eyes and say, ‘Bradley, there are people on the outside that support you,’ his eyes light up.”
Somehow, I just get this feeling that he is in love. Just somehow.
I’ve still got my Hang the Traitor sign from the pro/anti-Manning rallies at Quantico.
UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE (UCMJ)
“(1) Any person subject to this chapter who, with intent or reason to believe that it is to be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of a foreign nation, communicates, delivers, or transmits, or attempts to communicate, deliver, or transmit, to any entity described in paragraph (2), either directly or indirectly, anything described in paragraph (3) shall be punished as a court-martial may direct, except that if the accused is found guilty of an offense that directly concerns (A) nuclear weaponry, military spacecraft or satellites, early warning systems, or other means of defense or retaliation against large scale attack, (B) war plans, (C) communications intelligence or cryptographic information, or (D) any other major weapons system or major element of defense strategy, the accused shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct.
I was very disappointed to find out that the needle is an available choice now. A service-completed Marine friend of mine said that when he got out, the options under UCMJ were hanging or the chair.
