Mexican Criminals, American Guns Did the ATF help create its own crisis?
National Review Online ^ | March 21, 2011 | David Rittgers

The next time gun-control advocates point to violence in Mexico and call for more restrictions on gun sales or a revived assault-weapons ban, they should consider that the problem may not be with the laws on the books, but with those who enforce them. Edit Rocket-propelled grenades and newly manufactured machine guns are not available at gun shows. Further gun control imposed on typical American buyers would have no effect on the ability of the cartels to purchase these military-grade weapons. Edit To acquire such weapons, the cartels put up recruiting billboards to persuade Mexican soldiers and police officers to leave their posts, and thousands have done so with weapons in hand.

Did the ATF help create its own crisis?

Is this a trick question?

Dave is a good fellow and I have taken his course on self-defense gun rights, a must for every CCW permit holder.

It’s really interesting that right as the ATF applied for all kinds of new gun regulatory power down there on the basis of some vague “gun running emergency”, the ATF was also knowingly permitting the guns to go over there.

It’s like facing a looming budget crisis they were doing things that would underscore their, “Raison d’Etre”.

I think they should stop Etre’ing —just fire them all.

If this scandal receives the coverage it deserves, we may finally get the long-needed reorganization of the BATF into a law-abiding agency. Too late for a lot of innocent Americans, but necessary for the rest of us.

I’m afraid most of the press will have to be dragged to this story, kicking and screaming.

Now, if it was a Republican in the WH…

If, by “create,” you mean invented the whole scenario, hyped it to the media, and then acted to make it come true in order to further clamp down on citizens’ individual right to keep and bear arms, then yes.

Consistent with Obama’s philosophy that a crisis is an opportunity, this administration also apparently believes in creating opportunities rather than just waiting for them.

Yes, really kind of Convenient for them that this crisis with guns is happening so that they can justify attaining more power and funding.

You’d also think that the U.S. ambassador to Mexico resigning would be more newsworthy.

Kinda like Hot Lips Houlihan and Ferret Face Frank Burns. I guess they (the ATF) felt like somebody was “messing up our war”.

The criminals that control our government are always running false flag pysops to trick the American people into giving up their money and liberty. In this case it was to erode our 2nd Amendment rights by supplying weapons to our enemies and blaming lawful gun sellers.

Give it a Month and the Government will cover up any signs of Operation Gun Walker. You won’t even be able to find it on Google.

This whole thing will go away with no one being fired or reprimanded/

What do you get when you cross anti-gun policy wonks with anti-gun career law enforcement officers? An “iron river” of guns flowing into Mexico.

Wait until the Mexicans begin extraordinary extradition of high-ranking BATFE administrators, then execute them following confessions obtained via waterboarding and other hostile interrogation techniques.

Of course some of them may prefer to commit suicide instead. After all, others have....

Oh, BTW: the US Ambassador to Mexico has now resigned, per CBS: "Gunwalking" scandal final straw leading to resignation of U.S. ambassador to Mexico

“Bingo”, once our government takes a RIGHT of INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY (2nd amendment) from us it will cost blood to get it back. HISTORY: if a government's objective is to control the people at the behest of a few is in reality an enemy of the people. We're there.
