Libya: work abandoned on Lockerbie bomber's residence
Work has been abandoned on a new residence for Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, who was reported to have been evacuated from Tripoli before an international bombing campaign was launched.
By Damien McElroy, Tripoli 6:25PM GMT 20 Mar 2011

A heavy police presence was deployed in the Damascus district of Tripoli, the upmarket suburb where Mr Megrahi lives, after an overnight bombing raid destroyed the city's air defences.

Col Muammar Gaddafi's regime is in lockdown as a result of the UN-backed attacks and key figures have been evacuated from the city for their own safety.

**SNIP**

Mr Megrahi has not been seen in more than a year. A heavy police presence guards his opulent home.

A new family residence is being built in the same alley and guards last month said Mr Megrahi had visited the site.

Mr Megrahi has deep family connections to southern Libyan tribes that are staunch defenders of Col Gaddafi's rule.

The Libyan intelligence officer was convicted of carrying out the 1988 bombing of Pan Am 103, which exploded over Lockerbie killing 270.

If the Scots had any sense they put the same tracking chip in his ass as the ones in my dogs.

Bee so cool to watch his a$$ try to outrun a Harpoon on a live feed. It is not a bad thing... We are blowing the crap out of anything worth more than an old Chevy there anyhow.

Did I miss something? I find it deplorable that the Libyans are buying this guy an opulent home and existence! Talk about "In Your Face"!

I don't care if the work has stopped or not. The real story is why it was being done in the first place!

Give this guy a tent. If it is good enough for Gaddafi, it’s good enough for a fellow murderer.

"put the same tracking chip in his ass as the ones in my dogs"

Don't they just crap them out? Then when your dogs run away, your tracking monitor will show them resting comfortably under the kitchen table.

They inject them into the back, between the shoulder blades.

They are scan-able, and soon to be traceable on an Iphone gps app (I have been told).

Private registration, ask your vet. They can wand the dog and get all the information that tags would normally carry.

Research labs and animal control now wand all the dogs or cats they get.

The last one cost me $138
