My wife has been involved in two incidences where the presence of a firearm got her out of difficulty with gangs of black thugs. In one situation the weapon was drawn, in the other the body language of her inserting her hand into her holster purse and asking authoritatively for them to back off was enough to get them to go on their way. In both cases there is no doubt that the groups had intended to harm her. In the case where a weapon was drawn she contacted the police afterwards.
It reminds me that it is past time to get out to the range with her to keep our profiency up. If one practices and is confident with a weapon, the bad people pick up on that. She is about a hundred pounds and innitially appears like a cute vulnerable victim to thugs, but when she is threatened she can make an immediate transition to her alter-identity.
I am convinced her reaction time is what has got her out of trouble. She has gotten the best of them because she recognized what was happening and reacted so quickly that she got the drop on them despite their evil intentions. The perps were not expecting their vulnerable little victim to have any way to protect herself. I pity the fools who don’t have the sense to figure this out. I know she would get off some well placed shots before they even knew what hit them. She comes from a military family and truly has the heart of a warrior.
Much of the time people don’t realize what is going on and react until it is too late even if they have a firearm. Carrying a weapon is a big responsibility and requires one to have extra vigilance and situational awareness.
I like having the 33 rd Glock mags around for reloads. I figure if the SHHTF big enough that I need a 2nd mag, I want a lot of rounds in that 2nd mag!
It could get worse for a while, perhaps a long while. I do think that he has set race relations back.

I insist my wife be properly armed at all times. She was a friend of 3 high profile rapes and one murder about 80 miles west of were this incident occurred.
A few years ago a bare foot drunk person, who could not speak English, was loudly badgering a female manager of a Burger King my wife and friend were frequenting. The manager said if he did not leave she would call the police so he pushed her. My little wife said, “don’t tell him you are going to call the police, just call them!”. At this point the belligerent drunk man cursed her in Spanish and approached her table. My 110 lb wife responded by sticking her hand in her purse and looking the fellow in the eye and said, “just come over here you son of a bitch and I’ll fire you up and field dress you!!”. Next thing the guy hit the door running and was last seen rapidly disappearing down the road.
Don’t be a victim. Don’t retreat, re-load.
Sorry to read the Father of the victim’s comment in the paper. If he wants justice he’s going to have to get it for himself. Only way in 2011.
Kudos to your wife! Most of the bad guys are bullies who are afraid of actually getting hurt themselves. They love to pick on the defenseless. When the tables are turned they tend to run away especially if they are caught by suprise. If they get a chance to think about it they will continue to challenge. That is why threatening to call the police is not a credible deterent in most cases. You are giving them a chance to think about their options.
The sad state of the media. If they were about the real business of the news a lot of our ills would not be.

Don't know about the driver, but reuben and the driver beaters were not rednecks.
Pack animals. Diversity is our strength.

Strong boot to intruding head in windshield, if it can be dislodged easily, stomp on gas and don't let up for 1 mile. If this involves doinking 2 or 3 pack animals off your hood, so be it.
Call 911 to report your side of story with the important caveat of stating clearly for the recording: "I was in fear for my life"
If the head cannot be easily dislodged, stomp on gas for 2 miles, pull over and call 911 for assistance in dislodging head with the same statement involving fear for one's life, all the while watching for the possibility of the approaching pack. Should the rabid pack arrive before the authorities, shoot the first 2 or 3 and re-enter vehicle, stomping on gas again for 2 miles.
Rinse and repeat as necessary.
Remember to say nothing to the police or anyone else without an attorney, except for the all important "fear for your life" statement.
Driver: "I hit someone who bolted out in front of me. When I tried to render aid I was attacked by a mob. I'm trying to escape with my life. I think they will kill me if I stop. Please send help to mile marker XXX"
911: "Stay on the line sir"
Driver: "I can't. They're going to drag me out of the car and kill me. I'm running to mile marker XXX. Send help quick."

MaxMax, The guys head made a hole in the window, but I doubt whether it was actually stuck there. Obvously his options were limited, but as I stated previously my wife found herself in a couple of dangerous situations where a pack of bullies intended to harm her.
When she without hesitation turned the tables on them by showing there was no doubt that she was willing to defend herself... the people dispersed immediately. There are not a lot of heros found in these mobs.
Whether this guy would have had a chance to defend himself with the proper trining and a firearm given the circumstances is difficult to say. It would depend on his training, his temperment, his situational awareness and the makeup of the crowd. A firearm has been helpful to others in similar situations many many times, generally with no bloodshed. Somehow the media tends not to pick up those stories.
I would guess that my wife would have a better chance in a stituation like this than most of the tough guys out there. She has the training, the practice and the moves and she doesn’t lose her cool in a crisis situation. I just hope mostly for their sake that some thugs don’t try to push it too far with her; we could be looking at some expensive legal bills.
I was a teenager in the 1970s and I can remember having this conversation in high school about the news not mentioning race when the perpetrator was black. It doesn't surprise me that the heartland was a decade or two behind the West Coast on this. There are so many bigots in God's country who think that including someones color in a description could be helpful to those trying to identify a suspect.
Or even-God forbid-to help area residents avoid becoming yet another victim!
Yeah, I hear you. I have a couple of those 33 rd mags too but prefer my 40 cal to the 9mm.
The people in the trailer park appear to be from Obama’s tribe. Don’t know about the driver. Wonder if this was a racially motivated attack?
I’m from NC. This happened in Vance County. You don’t slow down except to get a better aim. Of course there is a lake there(Kerr) with lots of expensive houses but they know which roads to take and which to avoid.
Finding people standing in the road is not that unusual and you sure don’t stop for them.
