[Jane] Fonda no longer welcome to speak at Nashua CC event [Hat/Tip Michelle Malkin]
New Hampshire Union Leader ^ | March 20, 2011 | KIMBERLY HOUGHTON

Posted on 03/23/2011 12:32:37 AM PDT by topher

NASHUA – Following a community outcry, organizers of a respected women's seminar have retracted their invitation to have actress Jane Fonda speak at the event.

With threats of a possible protest looming, Fonda will no longer serve as the keynote speaker for the New Hampshire Women's Leadership Summit scheduled for June 10 at Nashua Community College.

Last week, several veterans spoke in opposition of Fonda's public appearance in New Hampshire, calling her a traitor and anti-American.

"In recent days, we have heard voices in our community expressing moving objections to the selection of our main keynote speaker," Dr. Annabel Beerel, founder of the summit, wrote in a statement issued Friday. "While the summit encourages public discourse and diverse opinions, we do not wish to cause pain to our veterans. In addition to the many outstanding presenters and panels scheduled, we are working on engaging a new keynote (speaker) for the conference."

"She had accepted," college president Lucille Jordan said Saturday of Fonda. "But the Summit has disinvited her."

I don’t know what she preaches today, but veterans have long memories and I don’t think she has exactly apologized for those years.

I can’t believe it. I thought this trick only worked for the bad guys. I guess this “Dr. Beerel” can dish it out but can’t take it.

The best Fonda has done to explain her actions during the Vietnam war were the equally lame excuses that she was against the war and that she didn’t intend to aid the enemy.

She should have been dealt with back when she hurt so many of our honored military.

Once you commit an act of treason as Hanoi Jane did, the public will never ever let you live it down and Jane did it in such an open public display that made the crime of treason even more blatant.

There are ways to protest a war. That wasn’t one of them.

This was true of a lot of clueless liberals of that era, however Fonda sure went to a whole lot more trouble than most of them to be a gratuitous pain to the USA and a help to those who participated willingly in wishing a ruinous communist political system on the Vietnamese people. Kennedy administration bumbling didn’t help either in what might have been otherwise kept a cold war, but we’re talking about Fonda not Kennedy.

When Hanoi Jane did what she did, she should have been declared persona non grata and had her citizenship revoked right then.

When Hanoi Jane did what she did, he should have been tried for treason and executed, by what ever method was in vogue. I believe sparky was still in use.
Citizenship would have been revoked at that moment

The "Regrets" section of Jane's Wikipedia entry contains this quote:

"The image of Jane Fonda, Barbarella, Henry Fonda's daughter ... sitting on an enemy aircraft gun was a betrayal ... the largest lapse of judgment that I can even imagine."

Proving that even Jane Fonda can sometimes tell the truth.

Jane has been a busy little girl. Lets see if she "speaks out" against Obama's Libyan War.

the ‘moving objections’ haven’t changed over the years, so, what HAS?

Her enemies are using her past Viet Nam adventures to advance right-wing agendas...she is a life-long commie

Saw Jane Fonda in Fayetteville at a KFC.She came in with two giant black bodyguards or lovers, whatever.

She went around trying to recruit GI`s at those FTA rallys

Our Top Sarge told us we had better not attend as there would be CID filming all in attendence.

I said I hope someone throws a rock at her da** a**

A month later I was proud to be in VN and still proud of my service

Still hate the sorry da** bi*** that caused so many American deaths by encouraging the VC

My understanding is her betrayal of America caused a deep split between her and her father Henry. He was close friends with James Stewart, who lost an adopted son in Vietnam.

She was only able to reconcile with reconcile while making on On Golden Pond, which was just shortly before his death.

The split lasted about 20 years.

Not everyone is aware of her betrayal. Maybe if this was taught in Civics and American History, people would not even offer an invitation...

Hey, that is something that Vets could push for -- teaching about the betrayal of Jane Fonda as a list of great American Betrayers such as Benedict Arnold.

Need to start an activist thread on this...

From what I understand, people in the entertainment industry could betray the United States and get away with it.

I think someone passed some law because of the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s.

But I am not 100% sure about this.

About 10 years ago I posted something on FreeRepublic.com about Hanoi Jane, and some Vets had severe emotional trouble just at the mention of her name.

It made me regret posting that thread -- it hurt some vets that bad at that time. Hopefully, they have had healing, and let us pray for healing for vets who need healing...

There have been two generations of Americans since that time.

They are unaware of what happened except what the liberal media has spoon fed them -- unless they have grandparents and parents who tell them about this episode of American History.

I wonder if we should try to get our Republican House to pass a resolution to have children taught about the betrayal of America by Jane Fonda. Just as children are taught about Benedict Arnold, maybe they should be taught about Hanoi Jane.

Maybe Hanoi Jane was invited because Mumia couldn't get free for the day.

Stupidity abounds in academia.

I think back than it was who her family was. I have always wondered even though her father I think was a liberal if the estrangement between her and her father was over the Vietnam issue.

As do I, HS. Her acts were treasonous, but that doesn’t seem to matter anymore. Whatever happened to hanging traitors?

I’ll be watching to see if she comes out against Obama’s actions. {{{crickets}}}.

I had heard it was because Henry Fonda was very good friends with Jimmy Stewart. Though Henry was very liberal, he and Jimmy were good friends.

Even if you are a liberal, what Jane Fonda was a betrayal of this country. And I am fairly certain that her family Henry Fonday knew this, and was a source of split...

I could be wrong.
