Four branches of the military have begun sending training material to 2.2 million active and reserve troops as a prelude to opening the ranks to gays, with instructions on, for example, what to do if an officer sees two male Marines kissing in a shopping mall.
Key themes are that sexual orientation will no longer be a bar to service, that all service members must respect each other, and that the partners of gay troops will not receive the benefits of heterosexual spouses.
“We are going to make [gay ban] repeal training expeditiously,” said Maj. Joel Harper, an Air Force spokesman at the Pentagon. “It’s great training.”

That is rich.....First of all this training is not necessary. If the rule is going to change than just tell people to respect one another like they have for 200 years. This is just not necessary. I guess I will find out tomorrow when we have our training.

I retired from the Navy in 1993 - shortly after the Tailgate nonsense. I have been an independent consultant in the Wash DC area for eight years. I refuse to be an employee because I don’t want to go through anybody’s awareness training. I gave up racism and sexism years ago - that is to say I refuse to acknowledge the problems because so many refuse to acknowledge the real solutions or any progress. We don’t solve problems these days so much as make them fester so folks can make money off of them.
