Gates calls for Syrian forces to move aside

The Syrian people should follow Egypt’s lead and the country’s army should “empower a revolution”, Robert Gates, US secretary of defence, said as thousands marched in a southern city.

Mr Gates made his comments – some of the toughest remarks to date by a US official about the rule of Bashar al-Assad, president – on a day of further upheaval in the Middle East and beyond.

The White House signalled that it was preparing for a change in power in Yemen, where it has been allied with the government of Ali Abdullah Saleh, president. You effing morons. Where do you get off inciting insurrection in another country?

Seriously agree. I am wondering why no outrage on this. Can you imagine the uproar had this been done during Bush administration? Code Pink would turn Purple in Raaaage!

I am not even going to make the comparisons between the two administrations.

These people are lunatics. What’s next? Someone shoots an ambassador and it’s game on for the 3rd time?

Someone throw me a clue. I’m pretty dang’d intelligent and overly read but even I can’t figure out what the end game is on this from our side.

I get it from the Moslem Brotherhood perspective but we are acting like Jepetto and pinochio all at the same time.

Creatively dumb.

I hope Jack Wheeler’s got something that provides some illumination on this tomorrow but I can’t figure out why the Middle East is going from the Shiite bag it already was to a cesspool of excrement and a field vomit concurrently.

We’re on the same page. I don’t understand what I said that made you think otherwise. :)
