LOL!
We need to just all pull together and keep shoveling money at them as taxes so that they can do whatever they wish.
We not only aren't listened to, we aren't even informed of anything they do. And if we do find out something that they don't want us to know, they'll feel no compunction about having us killed and hiding/lying about it to keep it hidden.
I reiterate. Just shut up and pay your taxes serf.
The point is that if it were Bush, the media would be screaming about his lie and doing everything they could to out the troops who are there.
LOL .. thanks for the laugh. Whenever I think of flip-flops I’m reminded of that ridiculous picture of our president, looking oh so presidential, in his shorts with his chicken legs sporting big toes in flip flops.
An ABC affiliate in North Carolina says more than 2,000 U.S. Marines are on the ground in Libya. WCTI-TV in New Bern reports those Marines, assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) at Camp Lejuene, are "preserving the sanctity of the city [of Ajdubiyah] and the safety of the civilians within it." Capt. Timothy Patrick with the 26th MEU told the station: "In Libya right now they are doing exactly what we need them to do. They are doing what they are told, and right now that's protecting Libyan people against Qadhafi forces."
Do you believe the Marines and the news source or do you believe Obama?
Here is the latest AOL News re Libya. From what is written in this article it did not sound as if 2,000 marines are fighting in Ajdabiya. Perhaps a few spotters for the counterattack. Then again, if there they may be waiting for Qs forces to withdraw so they can move elsewhere relatively undetected. There are also 500 photos and a lot of comments.

UPDATE: To date, the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit has conducted numerous successful airstrikes against Muammar al-Qadhafi regime forces as part of Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn supporting the international response to protect civilians in Libya under threat of attack by Qadhafi military forces. The 26th MEU has also conducted a successful Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel mission in support of two U.S. Air Force F-15 pilots after their airplane crashed east of Benghazi, Libya, Mar. 21. All of these missions were launched from the USS Kearsarge more than 100 nautical miles from the coast. Other than the small TRAP force sent to locate the Air Force pilots, no U.S. Marines from the 26th MEU have landed ashore. "The ability to launch these and other missions directly from naval vessels illustrates the unique and valuable capacity of the Navy/Marine Corps team called 'sea-basing'", said Captain Timothy Patrick, spokesman for II Marine Expeditionary Force. "Having these forces embarked aboard amphibious ships means that at any time we can execute a variety of tactical missions with little or no footprint on foreign territory."
They now clarify that no Marines have landed on shore.
That was confirmed last night on O'Reilly by two people that seem to know - and for the same reason as noted by you.
Now, how is that not "boots on the ground"? On the other hand, they apparently are not in uniform so technically that may make a difference, but not to me.
We shall know in due time to some degree just who was on the ground prior to any effective air cap being put in place. One cannot expect every article produced to bring out every detail of what is going on.
the pilots flying those jets, at 30,000+ feet, at a few hundred miles an hour or more, have absolutely no idea where to drop bombs, unless someone on the ground is telling them where to drop said bombs. A good number, if not all, of these bombs are laser guided, which means that someone, somewhere has to be pointing a laser at a target. Either that, of they have to be given grid coordinates, which means they have identified a target and its location. The person(s) doing that, are members of the US military. Or maybe, its the alleged rebel leader, who has ties to Al-Quaeda and has men that he recruited to fight against the US in Afghanistan, calling in the airstrikes....Someone please tell me how in F**k this guy became the president of the United States.
I just went back to AOL to check my mail, and they have a new post on Libya. It seems the African Union also wants into the diplomatic frey with their meeting in Ethiopia that had Libyan officals in attendance.

For combat, my guess is soon. For more covert and tech operations I think they were well in place before obastard even said we were in for a penny.
They may be gay but they’re not happy.
have absolutely no idea where to drop bombs
Yup...the desert looks pretty much the same at one end as at the other.
Geez—can we get a few of them over here to protect the sanctity of th city of Phoenix?
I saw this last night and it was a huge, “Well, DUH!” moment. Of course there are Special operators on the ground in Libya. I suspect there are SF operators on the ground in countries most of the American public has never even heard of. I know I was.
The circus is open for attendance by anyone.
So not true. Those coordinates are determined in advance and from a large distance. Take my word for it.

On the article's (posted) question ....
I do not have an answer as there may or may not be boots on the ground. I do not know the technology well enough to have an accurate opinion, and I agree there would be no need for 2,000 boots on the ground. Once more, Thank You, for keeping me updated.
Everytime I see this, even though most of us know it to be commonsense, some news agencies need to keep their damn mouths shut...At least till the job is done...
