Man chains himself to UAlbany fountain

ALBANY -- Christopher Schewe, 41, a Pittstown man and a full-time UAlbany student, has chained himself to a campus fountain.

He said he gave a lock key to another person and told that person to not come back until Monday. He said he will not eat, will sleep in a tent and will wear adult diapers.

Campus police searched him and have since left him alone. He is trying to bring attention to the cancellation of fountain day. He also said he wants an apology from Glenn Beck.

"I think this is the worst representation of our school you could possible have," said sophomore Joseph Alicata. "He's just rambling. I've never seen him before in my entire life."

He's got a couple of videos on YouTube. He comes off as a guy with issues. He repeats over and over that he's "a full-time student" and "a Gulf War veteran." His problem with Glenn Beck seems to stem from a story Mr. Beck did about something called "Kegs and Eggs."

Christopher Schewe (he pronounces it "shoe-ee") seems to have become slightly unhinged. Laughter can be heard from an off-camera crowd in one of the interviews as Mr. Schewe answers questions from a student interviewer. The laughter does not sound sympathetic.

This twit was probably there at the last celebration, helping and cheering on the students, who acted like out of control little bulls in what they treated like the china shop. It is their own fault that fountain day, (stupid tradition) was canceled. If students cannot behave themselves they should not expect to be allowed to gather for those kind of celebrations. Other people’s property is not something that is there just waiting for you to destroy it. Actions have consequences, you lose!

Oh, this is funny.

He's also got a website at which he identifies himself as a comedian. He says he's going to be doing a show at a club in Colonie NY (a town between Albany and Schenectady) on April 1, and guess what? The club's website confirms this! He's named on their "Club Schedule" page as "special guest comedian Chris Schewe" !

WTF is “fountain day”?

The first real warm day they turn on the fountain and the kids get drunk and splash around. But this year it was cancelled because the kids already tore up the town on St Patty's Day. Here is a related article:
