“In tragically feeble defense,... “

Less than that. Contemptible.

"I can’t read it in any other way... "

I read it again, and it's alright - right up until that last sentence - the "young homosexuals..." part. I can't say that I agree with the inclusion of that particular phrase.

but this is not their greatest sin.

I put child molesting pretty high on the sin scale. I think someone else does too - "as ye have done unto these my children, ye have done it unto me..."

Care to elaborate?

It would appear you may be a lucky individual and never been molested by those in an authoritative position over you, and much bigger...and who tells you if you say a word no one will believe you (and they didn't far too many times) and then you;ll be in big trouble - or - if you tell, I will hurt you bad - or kill your family - etc etc.

It appears you have never, as a DEFENSELESS child, been put in that position.

If so, you might think about getting on your knees and thanking GOD - and while you're there, maybe ask for some understanding and milk of human kindness.

Have a good rest of your judgmental life.

The greatest sin is apostasy. And it is based on arrogance. a sign of this is that they meet in the mother church looking like an audience of microsoft execs. But the child molestation is a symptom of a lack of faith. It is endemic in the public schools, which are—so many of them—godless.

For God’s sake, when is the Holy Roman Catholic Church going to be prosecuted under the existing RICO Act?

This is a pervasive and ongoing illegal enterprise of global proportions. Any other group, organized or not, would have been prosecuted to Hell and back by now.

“Lesson learned is to be suspicious of every authority figure and not place too much trust in them, and replace them often.”

Jeremiah again, this time in Chapter 17, verse 5: “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm . . . “

We make too much of clerics and not enough of God.

Conclusion: Carnality and Religion are inextricably entwined in the Genetic Code of the Human Species. Watch the people with the prayerbooks like hawks is the lesson. A number of them are always going to be watching our children in the same way.

Abuse of the power of religion is endemic within the institutions of every religion. What is evolving now is the power of the laity to monitor their institutions more assiduously and to find and correct offenders. This is not easy.

Innocent children must be made aware of those in their lives who are not innocent. Right now it is the turn of the Romans to be excoriated for the violations within their church, and rightly so. However, it is sheer hypocrisy for members of other sects to imagine that somehow their churches are immune or innocent of these horrible abuses. All of this has gone on for centuries. This has always been known in confidence. Now, it has reached the public.
The "Public" is human, too. So the effects of the light shined upon the centuries of abuse will be good. Those good effects will hopefully outweigh those that inevitably will not be so good.

About 15 years ago a former Jesuit seminarian sued the church because of unwanted homsexual advances. The bishop told him to keep quiet and a federal judge said he would not intervine. He never became a priest. Now all the 6 to 10 year old kids that have had those priests, that thought the chruch was a sexual playground, not a holy place are in their 20s with terrible experiences. In Dallas the church had two priests that cost them 50 million then digging deeper they found more.

The Fells Acre, McMartin, Little Rascals hysteria began with single accusations that grew as the result of prosecutorial misconduct. If you read the transcripts of the child interviews it’s apparent the children were coerced into agreeing with the interviewer.

The accusations against the priests are quite different. The DA in most cases is reluctant to pursue the cases, sometimes because of pressure from the local religious leader. The community doesn’t have the same “save these poor victims” mentality they had in the 80’s when they felt the children were being abused.

Thirty years ago the alleged abusers were sent to prison for decades and only released throught he tireless efforts of people like Dorothy Rabinowitz. Contrast those sentences with present day responses. Cardinal Bernard Law was sent(enced) to Rome where he was given a promotion. He now serves or perhaps heads the group that chooses the new bishops! How do you like those apples.

“For every legitimate claims there are probably ten that are false.”

How in the hell would you know? For every 1 child, code word for pre-teen boy, they raped they beat the ever loving crap out of 10 more.

My sister entered the Incarnate Word order at 14. She had her head saved, was beaten and not allowed to speak for 2 years unless spoken to first by an older nun. She had to get on her knees and kiss their foot and then the old bitches would say “what do you want?”. When she said she did not under stand why she was bleeding they screamed and said she was being punished by God and put her in solitary to pray for forgiveness. She was FOURTEEN years old so KMA.

I went to Christian Brother HS and found out 20 years later that the “Good Friars” had routinely raped some of my friends. I was expelled when I was 16 for telling Brother Stanly I would kill him if he ever hit me again. He had stabbed me in the chest with a key. Can’t have dissension in the ranks of potential rump riders can we?

Perverts, bloody perverts.

“.you didn’t say anything at the time....didn’t tell your parents, “

Bullshit - if you told your parents they asked you what you had done to upset the good father-—or brother —or sister and then they beat you for causing them embarrassment.

After all, catholic parents had been beaten and abused as well, so it is all about the “family” secrets.

So you are saying at age 10 after father plied you with wine in the sanctuary and then told you you burn in hell if you ever told anyone you would have told the good sister? And she would have done what. You would tell your buddies on the ball team what father had done? So they could call you a liar and fairy?

KMA

nonsense.....the majority of these "victims" were not really victimsat all, but were young men enticed into a homosexual relationship which they desired. It is not hard for a "chicken hawk" homosexual man (one who is looking for young participants) to spot potential quarry. By the way...although there is no excuse for either of them....there are approximately 260 cases filed in insurance companies per year, against protestant clergy....just saying

total nonsense....BS that disappeared years ago...if some of your friends were raped in HIGH SCHOOL they wanted it....as I think back, in high school I was 6' l65# and it would have taken at lease three of them to rape me!!! Your description ofyour sister's treatment at a convent would have soon led to the end of their existance....you have a vivid imagination and a hatred of a church that you couldn't make it in. (sorry, I ended that sentence with a preposition)

WOW, you must have been raised in a real caring family.....My father, had I ever reported to him that I had either been molested or threatened in any way, would have, with a police escort, confronted the alleged perp and believe be, there would have been serious, legal or otherwise, consequences. That would also follow for my children, but I'm not so sure I would have taken the time to dial 911. ......your sign off as KMA to a male writer signifies that.....well, let's just say that you shouldn't be around young MALE children......just saying

And how would you know beyond your personal experience? And do you really care that in the public schools that such incidents probably occur in proportional numbers. I certainly from my long experience in education "know," but could not prove that school administrators habitually sent on their way child abusers--and accused child abusers--just to avoid trouble. My own cynicism(and my own experince) leads me to believe that the public schools have been spared this onslaught because 1) they enjoy sovereign immunity and 2) most school purge the files of former employees and 3) there is no central authority comparable to the Catholic dioceses/religious orders and 4) they and teachers have no personal commitment to one another. One of the ironies of the priest scandals is that the schools have become more attentive to charges of child molestation. But there will be reaching back forty or fifty years to locate coaches who hot on sweet young things, because the evidence is not there, and because the public schools are a power in the land much greater than the Catholic Church.
