KYODO NEWS:
NEWS ADVISORY: Over 1,000 millisieverts per hour found in water at No.2 reactor
That’s 1 Seivert, if I’m correct?
Yes, 1 sievert.
Reuters :Japan plant operator says radioactivity in water at reactor No. 2 is 10 million times usual level, workers evacuated - local media
TEPCO will be no longer after this.
NHK confirmed.
Here is the bottom line
No one knows how bad it really is...except maybe TEPCO..and I am not sure even they know.
Those poor people trying to protect the lives of the Japanese were not even being properly protected by TEPCO.
I have seen reports that some of those workers in the Fukushima 50 have already died. Don’t know if it is true.
Btw, here is something that SUPPOSEDLY was written in the NYTIMES and then removed:
” A senior nuclear executive who insisted on anonymity but has broad contacts in Japan said that there was a long vertical crack running down the side of the reactor vessel itself. The crack runs down below the water level in the reactor and has been leaking fluids and gases, he said.
The severity of the radiation burns to the injured workers are consistent with contamination by water that had been in contact with damaged fuel rods, the executive said. There is a definite, definite crack in the vessel its up and down and its large, he said. The problem with cracks is they do not get smaller.”
Yeah I posted a link yesterday to their story that had it...let me see if I can find it.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/26/world/asia/26japan.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1
This was the article that had that claim...it has been scrubbed.
did you actually see it in the article before it was scrubbed?
Probably given as background not to be used in story and the reporter got a reinder call
Breaking - Japan Nuclear Safety Agency confirms that radioactive iodine 134 extremely high in water at No.2 reactor and that the water in No. 4 reactor is less radioactive than in other reactors.
Iodine 134 has a short half life. We will see if they meant caesium 134.
Cracks are mother’s way of relieving stress.
So who told them to pull it.
Obama and crew?
That kind of news is not something that Japan wants people to know..that is quite obvious. No one is telling the truth about what is going on at that plant.
here are some numbers being floated
“The company says the latest reading is 10-million times the usual radioactivity of water circulating within a normally operating reactor. TEPCO says the radioactive materials include 2.9-billion becquerels of iodine-134, 13-million becquerels of iodine-131, and 2.3-million becquerels each for cesium 134 and 137.”
Cesium 137 is the one with the long half life.
Though u are correct in stating that their is so much disinformation (my guess is by design) that people are losing interest and the pressure each day for them to tell the truth lessens with each hour passing.
But everything I have read and can comprehend all point to a very bad situation there and one that does not look solvable.
That’s reactor 2 right?
Really, I am getting confused.
I think the 10,000 times level story was reactor 3 and the 10 million times level is reactor 2.
