The fall of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi might see the al-Qaeda affiliated Islamic terrorist groups filling up the void, US analysts have said.
Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) that was branded by the US as a terrorist organisation in May 2010 has been operating from its base in Algeria, and has now extended its reach to the borders of Mauritania, Niger, Mali, Chad and Libya, Fox News reports.
Gaddafi had earlier not only provided intelligence on the terrorists' operations to the US, but has also publicly spoken out against them.
Branding the group members as 'bad Muslims', Gaddafi said: "The security forces found a mosque in al-Zawiya. In a mosque! Weapons, alcohol, and their corpses - all mixed up together."
Now that the Libyan dictator has gone into hiding, many analysts have raised concerns whether southern Libya will become a magnet for jihadist groups.

Ya think?
Michelle Bachmann and Newt Gingritch had also been expressing this concern knowing that there is and has been Al Qaeda presence in the eastern part of Libya and especially in the northeast.
Sify (India) source noted. American “state” media still calling them “freedom loving civilians”
This was known a while ago. AQ involved in Libya and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Who are the people who think these events were Jeffersonian revolutions?
Libya?? They are here thanks to Bush and Zippy Obama!
Thanks bigheadfred.
Why is it Bush’s fault???
Lefties do it well, though. Ask anyone in the MSM.....
If all the oil is in southern Libya, then I agree.
We could be in Obamas LIE-BYA for years to come!
“Why is it Bushs fault???”
His great Religion and the “Compassionate” War he ran, they should all have been DEAD DEAD the first year! We here in America are infested with Muslims and everything else that crawls out there as well.
Lefties do it well, though. Ask anyone in the MSM.....”
Dude he dropped the Ball, A example was the Iraq war lingering on and on while these chitbags organized and learned our systems.
And people wonder why Obama has us in this war...
Is Palin in support of our actions in Libya?
I don’t know. If she is that might explain her dip in the most recent polls.
We are such dumb $h!ts.
I think she did, but I don’t want to say so, because if I’m mistaken, I will be jumped on and accused of having Palin Derangement Syndrome by some on here.
Personally I think these revolutions are planned. If they are planned... for them to break out simultaneously in different parts of the world appears to me to be the work of Al Qaeda.
It takes a lot of courage for ordinary people to protest against Gadaffi and some of the others they are protesting right now. I think it's a plan hoping we will bite the bait and get hauled into another time consuming war like Iraq.
Once the boots get on the ground in Libya... all eyes on Pakistan. That's where the real revolution is planned. IMO
And our hands will be tied in Libya
Those people are hurting Sarah Palin much more than they think they are helping her.
1) One cannot immprove and grow without being told where their weakness is
2) It's a turn-off to other voters who may have voted for her.
Exactly.
They should remember that a small criticism of someone doesn’t mean you completely hate them.
Also, no one is perfect, so it shouldn’t be a problem to point out any flaws a candidate may or may not have.
It's unfortunate. Sarah Palin would have great potential if her supporters had more confidence ability to fight back and grow and improve all at the same time.
I figure, better to correct the gaffes now then see them come out during the debate with Obama.
