Marines are soldiers.
My @ss. Never have been, never will be.
We don't wear French berets - not even "hats" - we talk different, we walk different, we march different, we train different, but most importantly, we FIGHT different.
Too bad you you ain't figured out that anyone can be a soldier. You must be a recent grad of MCRD Hollywood.

Your ignorance of Marine history is astounding.

“The finest soldier any captain could wish to have,” said of Dan Daly by BGen W.P. Upshur

Marines have always been called soldiers, Soldiers of the sea and stuff like that. The dictionary says that the word Marine means soldiers affiliated with the Navy. This stuff about Marines are Marines, Not soldiers is a pretty new thing.
“Soldiers trained in the ways of the sea,” -CMC, BGen Benjamin H. Fuller

“He turned down the gold bars of a second lieutenant. ‘I’m a plain soldier,’ he said, ‘and I want to stay one.’”
-GySgt John Basilone

Just to quote a few Marines that have gone before.
