A top military official says the U.S. was striking Libyan targets with low-flying Air Force AC-130 gunships and A-10 Thunderbolts over the weekend, bolstering speculation that the U.S. air missions have served to support rebels seeking to overthrow Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.

If you are going to conduct illegal war, conduct illegals war. Whoever gave the order should be tried for war crimes. You cannot have war crime trials of people and then do the same crap yourself.

My guess is that we now have boots on the ground as liaison and controlling the air strikes.

seems like this Qaddafi problem could have been resolved with a single way placed bullet. How much does a single well placed bullet cost? How much will this “kinetic military action” cost?

A lot less than $100 million a day. That's for sure.

Vice Adm. William Gortney, staff director for the Joint Chiefs, insists that the U.S. is not coordinating attacks with the opposition forces or using airstrikes in direct support to help them gain ground.

Word mincing alert. Nah, pounding the piss out of Gadaffi's armor and little technicals couldn't possibly support the rebels in gaining ground.

Obama needs to save face at the cost of taxpayers. Indirectly, we’re putting our boys in harms way in Libya and we’re paying $100 million a day to help Obama save face and move up in the polls so he can increase his chances of winning in 2012.

I actually thought the our military was watching “kinetic action” not in a “kinetic military action”? Man i wish the “Won” would clarify this.

Well, I don;t see any of our Congress coming out with questions about the legality of it so why would the average American (not us) believe there's something fishy going on.

The average American does not even know the difference between enforcing a No Fly Zone and an aerial intervention in a civil war.

Sadly, they depend on our Representatives to notice that and do something.

Exactly who are the "rebels" and what is their relationship to Al-Qaeda? Exactly who are we killing with our gunships? Why? I do not understand. What will overthrowing Gadhafi accomplish, besides creating another country controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda hostile to Christians and the USA?

People from the middle east use the word "democracy" to please the westerners; they do not know what democracy is.

Obama is looking for another Mogadishu on his hands, and just when one thinks he cannot do any worse as POTUS he proves them wrong.

He feels at home screwing around in Africa.

The people in Tripoloi have Osama Bin Ladens Qaida boys approaching from the east, Barak Huissein Obama Bombing from the north, and Mohmar Gadaffie bombing from the west.

Now that's a Meat Grinding Muzzie circle jerk if I ever saw one. The longer this lasts, the better.

Only problem is until Biden takes over the Presidency due to Barak Huissein Obama’s law breaking, Obama has hijacked our military :(

They'll take out those tanks before they can violate that “No Fly Zone”?

Obama's getting bad press on this... for example, AP's Ann Gearan said:

The Nobel Peace Prize winner never used the word "war" to describe what's happening in Libya, but made a point of addressing what the conflict he chose "says about the use of America's military power, and America's broader leadership in the world, under my presidency."

The blush is off the rose.

We’re doing Air Interdiction, which is basically almost the same as Close Air Support just minus the coordination with the troops on the ground and supposedly separated by more space. You can easily and purposefully blur the lines between AI and CAS without much effort.

I still firmly believe we need to understand more about the rebels, who they are, their intention, goals and vision of the end-game. I think we could easily usher in a bigger problem to the US than Gadaffi himself if we are not intelligent about this.

.... or more likely to acknowledge that they've been there for a while.

I was thinking that this morning too... Black Hawk down.

But I have hopes for a stalemate giving a protracted bloody civil war, where we just keep lobbing bombs into the middle of Gadaffi and Bin Ladens Al Qaida forces.

If Obama wins, Al Qaida will have its first country.
