(CNSNews.com) - Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan said that no other President “better understands” the need for public housing than President Obama, adding that the administration will “fight” House Republicans over their proposed cut to public housing funding.
“Barack Obama didn’t come to Washington to let your homes be sold off to the highest bidder or let them decay so badly that they won’t be there for future generations and neither did I,” he told the National Low Income Housing Coalition conference in Washington on Monday.
“Let’s not forget, let’s not forget that President Obama got his first job out of school community organizing on the South Side of Chicago in public housing. No other President in our history better understands what a precious resource public housing is to our communities, to our country, and to our future.”

There is some dust up in Charlotte NC about distributing more public housing around what is left of the Queen City that is worth anything.

In other words, “Once a freeloader, always a freeloader”.
So far nobody on this thread has picked up on the obvious: Very soon public housing will be the only thing any of us can afford with Obama in the White House. That seems to be his plan.
If Obama understood public housing, he would know that it violates the 10th Amendment.

HUD should be disbanded and the lifeless bureaucrats should find jobs in the fields, picking lettuce.

He certainly knows how lucrative it can be from his days in Chicago.
Did he live in Cabrini-Green? Then he knows just what a success “public housing” is. And just watch what happens to “brand new” section 8 housing within a matter of months. It becomes a literal hell-hole, because the denizens just don’t care. If it’s “free” they have NO incentive to keep the place up, so why NOT have drug dealers on every corner, why NOT punch holes in the walls, why NOT strip the “free” housing’s appliances bare when you move, why NOT have every free wall space covered with “tags”? I live about 1-2 miles from a section 8 low income neighborhood. In the past 2 years or so I’ve noticed “tagging” even in my own “nice” neighborhood. It enrages me.
